LOVE Island winner Calum Best has spoken for the first time about his rape quiz ordeal.

The 25-year-old was dragged out of his hotel bed by police after a girl claimed she was attacked.

Model Calum, son of football legend George, told of his "shock" over the false nightclub rape allegation.

And he is convinced the girl gave his name to police to exploit his celebrity status – even though he wasn’t in the room where she alleged the rape by a group of men happened.

He said: "It’s unfair my name was used when it had nothing to do with me, because this is a very serious allegation."

Police grilled Calum for half-an-hour after the 22-year-old woman concocted the rape lie.

The legendary ladies’ man was in bed with another woman when the officers turned up.

Calum told a business partner: "I was shocked and very upset when the police called. I just couldn’t believe it. There’s no way I would ever get involved in anything like that.

"It was a very frightening – and embarrassing – experience. I could have been arrested when I hadn’t even done anything wrong.

"I’m sure she picked on me because of who I am. After all why mention my name when I wasn’t even in the same room? I know I’ve got a reputation as a ladies’ man but I’m no rapist."

Calum was making a personal appearance in Cardiff. He spent the night chatting with fans and signing autographs.

The girl was forced to withdraw her allegations after detectives were shown mobile phone footage of her having sex with two unnamed men.

She is also seen performing a sex act on Calum’s manager and pal Dave Read. The explicit clip showed the girl snorting white powder.

In the film one of the men says to the girl: "You want a line of Charlie? Yeah, over there."

Mr Read, who also masterminds the careers of Bianca Gascoigne, 19, and ex-Corrie siren Nikki Sanderson, 22, is seen giving a high five to another man. One of them jokes: "Typical night in Cardiff."

Yesterday Mr Read said: "It was a very strange situation, almost surreal. Calum wasn’t anywhere near this girl – he had nothing to do with her.

"Thank goodness it didn’t get any further – within half-an-hour the police said everything was okay and the matter had been dropped.

"We’d had a few drinks and all of a sudden this girl was there and it all started happening."

He added: "I know Calum was very upset when the police came round to his hotel. But there was obviously no truth in it all. It only took the police half-an-hour to work that out."

South Wales Police said that two men were arrested and were later released without charge.

They wouldn’t say if the girl would be arrested for wasting police time.
