BLONDES may have more fun but women are now reaching for the brown hair dye, the UK's biggest supermarket said today.
Sales of "rich truffle" shades are selling in "massive" quantities, according to Tesco.
Cameron Diaz,
Jordan, Chantelle Houghton and other celebrities who ditched their blonde locks for brunette tresses are apparently behind the trend.
Sales of brunette-enhancing colour shampoos and conditioners are set to overtake blonde and auburn versions for the first time, according to Tesco.
The chain's hair colorant buyer, Beverly Doorbar, said: "Over the past fortnight we have seen sales of brown hair dyes rocket, up 40 per cent - a figure which seems to be increasing daily.
"Women are desperate to recreate the celebrity look."
Nicole Richie and Abi Titmuss are among other former blondes who switched to brunette.
