Woo hoo, finally, NW London gets a piece of the action. A little tornado rips up part of NW10.

Sadly, I was not quite south enough to see it. All I got was mega lightning strikes that shock the area like a bomb.

Hopefully a few net-heads took some great footage of this storm.

Images from the scene on ITV and BBC look as if a bomb had ripped the area to peices.

I haven't seen any video of the Tornado yet ,but if anything like that happened around here I'd be the first one out there filming it and hoping not the damage the camera in the process.

Most UK Tornados are quite weak things but this one looks to have had a lot more strength then normal.

I've seen the effect a couple of times but it's never lasted more than a couple of seconds. One picked up all the fallen leaves in the High Street spun them around and upwards then they just fell back on to the road. The second was I think summer time and the dust in the car park at work suddenly lifted into a spirrel and moved half way across the car park tossing some things that had been painted and left to dry into the air then it'd gone. Maybe 5 seconds ,no high winds but enough to disrupt the minor goings on.

My video cameras are able to going in to action in under a minute. Just lock the batterys in and load the tape. The video light and or the LCD monitor would take longer but you wouldn't need them for something like this or have the time. Just grab and go.

I suspect it happened so quickly that it caught everybody by suprise hence no video of the event just the mess left behind.

Apparently it was a T-4 strength tornado (on a scale of T-1 to T-10) as was the one in Birmingham last year.

UK tornado victims still homeless

About 100 people have spent a second night in temporary shelters following a tornado that hit London on Thursday.

Their homes are still at risk of falling down beacause they were badly damaged. Experts say 34 of them will have to be knocked down.

Some families have been put into temporary homes by the local council, while others are staying with family.

It's expected to cost millions of pounds to repair the damage caused by winds stronger than 100mph (160km/h).

Six people were injured, only one of them seriously, but up to 150 homes were damaged.

Tornado homes escape demolition

All of the homes damaged by a tornado in north-west London will be saved from demolition, surveyors have said.
More than 100 houses in Kensal Rise were damaged on Thursday and experts initially believed some would need to be knocked down.

But this has been discounted following further inspections of the properties.

Meanwhile, contractors trying to repair homes have complained parked cars blocking nearby streets are hampering their efforts.
