Zoe Ball will host the new series of Soapstar Superstar.
The show returns on the 5th of January with soap stars going head-to-head to win the competition. The names in the line-up so far are........

Gemma Atkinson: Lisa Hunter, Hollyoaks

Alan Fletcher: In The City

Dr. Karl Kennedy:, Neighbours

Antony Cotton: Sean Tully, Coronation Street)

The voters will choose the songs the contestans sing they also vote to save their favourite singer each week.

Soapstar Superstar

Alan Fletcher, who plays Dr Karl Kennedy in Neighbours, is already the favourite of the bookies to win Soapstar Superstar even though the new series does not start until January 5.

The Australian actor started as 11/4 favourite, but following a rush of bets, the Yorkshire-based bookies, Sky Bet, has now slashed the odds to 2/1 for the show.

"Dr Karl Kennedy is something of cult figure among students and has performed with his own band for some years, so he's definitely going to be a contender," said Sky Bet's entertainment manager, Helen Jacob.

Emmerdale's Hayley Tamaddon, who plays Delilah Dingle and Coronation Street's Antony Cotton are joint second favourites to win at 9/2.

Other contenders include Coronation Street's Jane Danson and Tupele Dorgu, Emmerdale cast members Verity Rushworth and Matthew Wolfenden, Mark Furze, who is known as Eric 'Ric' Dalby in Home and Away, and Gemma Atkinson and Leon Lopez from Hollyoaks In The City.

The current outsider is EastEnders actress Elaine Lordan, whose odds are 28/1.

I've been watching this avidly every night and throughly enjoyed it so far!

Tonight I was in uproar that the Neighbours bloke saved the other young australian guy because his perfomance of Living on a Prayer by BonJovi, quite frankly, sucked.

Now one of the more talented will go out, just hope that Gemma does't stay in because she is skinny blonde and in hollyoaks (the worst programme on telly!) rather than talented. Not talented... seen more charisma and stage presence in the bottom of an empty fish tank.
