What are you doing reading this - haven't you got anything better to do, on this of all days? Do you, as the great poet said, know it's Christmastime at all?

I hate to leap to conclusions about anyone, but I say, from what I know of you, that you're an unsociable Scrooge, creeping away from the jolly throng singing carols around the tree, to check your e-mails, browse aimlessly, gorge on humbugs and skulk. You're probably not even wearing your paper crown.

Admittedly, you're not alone. Last year almost 1.3 million people found time out of their festivities to visit this website on Christmas Day. That's a fair few, but just a third of those who visit on a normal day. It seems there are plenty of people for whom family fun and a stodgy pudding have more attraction than the internet.

Of course there are all kinds of reasons why you might be reading this on Christmas Day, other than anti-social behaviour.

Oh, ffs! Ever since I discovered the Internet, I've checked in on my favourite sites on Christmas Day. No harm in being sociable, is there? {@}

Besides, the pubs aren't open in Ireland ::lol::

Every year I have this thought 'is it sad to be on the internet on Christmas day'?
But I'm sure it is ok, because otherwise the latter part of the day can be so boring!!

I didn't make it online till nearly midnight, as I was with my parents and brothers all day. I don't see why it's sad to be online if you feel like it! It's a way to check in with friends, so is actually sociable, if you think about it!

After christmas dinner, some people fall asleep, some watch tv, some read and some people go online. I don't know what the big deal is, people are free to do what the heck they like to relax and good for them that do!

Well if you've got very little going on and the tv is the usual rubbish then you have to find something else to do and going on-line is one of them.

If on the other hand you've a full day of action then you don't get time to go on-line.

Others fall somewhere in the middle of these.

It's an individual thing and everybody is different.

Could you imagine the idea of the Internet being shut down for a day just because it's Christmas ?! Besides not everybody celebrates Christmas either through personal choice or religion.
