Reading above report it's amazing that an event that size went unspotted I think it's 16 months. It even registered at Earthquake monitoring stations.

The island of ice (25sq Miles) is currently stuck in the Winter ice according to one report.

Today started off ok but shortly after midday the rain set in.

Temperatures have been very up and down today.
Over night low was around 11C at about Midnight then rose to 13.3C around 4am. Then fell to a low of 9.8C around 9am. Daylight high was 12C around 2pm.
Current temperature is 7.9C and falling quickly.

Barometer has been up and down all day between 1008mb and 998mb. Currently 1001mb.

Wind direction is SW (226 Degrees).

So far we have had 10mm rain but this is likely to increase as the night wears on.

We had a very bright flash of lightening and an enormous clap of thunder that rumbled for about 10 seconds down the valley around 1800 (6pm).

Looking at the MET Office Rainfall radar it looks like some very heavy rain is moving across England.
Northern Ieland and Scotland have already taken a ponding with periods of Very Heavy to Downpour conditions.

The band of rain is currently over South Wales ,Avon ,Somerset ,Wiltshire ,Hereford ,Devon and is moving East .The last image at present is 1530 but it won't be long before East Midlands ,SE England ,and Eastern Counties get the rain. The radar shows Pink (heavy) ,Red (Very heavy) rain in large enough areas to cause problems. There areas are bordered with Moderate rain (Yellow and Green).

The current weather warnings only cover Scotland and Wales.

From The MET Office.

Can't grab the radar image as it's mapped into a series of links for local areas.

After a bit of reading of the source file for the page here is the 1600 Radar image. It's not quite as colourful as the 1530 one but still there's a lot of heavy rain on the way.
Here is East Northants we have driving rain with strong winds.

Image leeched from the MET Office website.

Today started chilled though daytime temperatures were about the same as yesterday.

Overnight low was 3.4C ,Daytime high was 8.5C.
Currently temperature is 6.8C and falling.

Barometer has risen to 1027mb though as the low pressure area moves in with the rain tonight this will fall again. Also as the rain moves in the temperatures are set to rise but not before temperatures get down to 2 or 3 degrees to create a frost.

Wind direction is West-North-West (291 Degrees).

There has been the odd light shower during the day but not enough to register in the gauge.
