A boring day really with Topsy-turvy temperatures.

Temperatures ,the figures show a High of 12.3C and a Low of 10.4C but looking at the chart I think the high was around 1am !! and the low between 5am and 11am. On the chart the daytime high looks to have been just a bit lower than the 1am temperature.
Current temperature is 11C.

The Barometer peaked during the night at 1019mb and has been falling all day. It's currently 1008mb.

Wind direction is approx. North-North-West (327 Degrees).

This morning had lots of fine drizzle but no real rain.

Same here.

Was chilly first thing but it dropped down to around 3C overnight .

Was doing a temporary repair to the shed roof this morning and for the most part the wind was very light.

High pressure is in charge at present hence the blue skies but it'll be cold tonight. The high looks to be around 8C .

It's been caos in many parts of this county today again with trees ,signs ,and Lorries coming a cropper.

I wish the anemometer was working as I'd love to know how strong the wind was here but it packed up about 2 years ago.

Temperatures today ,Low was 7C High was 13C currently 9.1C.

The Barometer was down to 982mb at one point but has recovered to 999mb.

I have 18mm of rain recorded between 4am and 3pm.

Current wind direction is West-North-West (287 Degrees).

Looking at the pressure charts for the next few days showed continuing Westerly winds and with the continued line-up of weather fronts lots more rain.

I think I can also see where the cold weather might be going to come from. Out in the Western part of the Atlantic is a large area of High Pressure which appears to be tracking East ,now the winds that'll arrive on the leading edge will come from the North West and North as it gets closer. Now if it was a slow mover or became stationary then the UK will be left of the colder winds for some time. There are also weather fronts coming in with in which would provide the rain / snow. Scotland has had it's first significant snowfall of the Winter while the rest has had the rain.

We'll have to wait and see how it pans out as the weather does change a lot and isn't that predictable.

My whole outside station got smashed last week when my carbon steel flagpole was somehow destroyed during the storm!!!(The flag is my crude anenometer!).
At 12 today,my barometer read 980mB (indoors).
Its now 1000.
The gusts on the back of the storm were the strongest here, peaking between 1.30 and 2.15 this afternoon

Today was a bright though chilly day with a bust of moderate rain this afternoon.

Overnight low was around 3.7C ,daytime high was 7.7C. Currently it's 3.6C.

The barometer has risen from 1000mb to 1010mb.

And 2mm of rain has been recorded.

Wind direction is approx. North-West (311 Degrees).

The High pressure over the Atlantic is bringing the cold air in over the next few days ,also by mid week it looks like a low pressure system over mainland Europe will also be feeding cold air from the East.

Severe weather warnings are in affect from Lincolnshire West and then North covering the rest of the UK. On the Southern edge of the warnings it's mainly an ice problem at this stage but the further North you go the more the snow plays a part.

Rap up warm as it's about to get very cold with Snow and Ice.

Looking more closely at the long range surface pressure charts ,to me ,it looks like the highest risk of snow to The Midlands and Southern Britain is in the 24 hour period between Tuesday 1200 to Wednesday 1200.

They show fronts forming over Northern Scotland then moving South. With the current charts the fronts have cleared the UK by 1200 Wednesday but anything that the fronts produce is likely to fall as snow due to how low I'd expect the temperatures to be by then.

But as I've said before things could change as they so often do with the weather.

I'm sure I'm right in saying that we've (in the North-East of Scotland) have never got this far into winter without snow. It tried for about 10 minutes this morning but didn't manage really.
