i really hate security codes.

i can see why they are useful, but i rely on speach software to use the computer, and getting on this site was a nightmare.

what are your thaughts on security codes?

In this day and age it's a necessary procedure to make it difficult for the spam bots and robots to sign-up to forums and plague them with junk mail and links to unsuitable websites.

Unfortunately it will confuse text to speech programs.
Maybe you could offer suggestions for others that rely on this software on ways to ease their signing up experience.

It's a sad thing that the first thing you have to do before you can enjoy using the Internet is to install 3 or 4 programs to protect your computer from attracting undesirable people from stealing your details from it while your using it on-line.

Anti-virus and anti-spyware programs are now a must along with a stronger firewall than the one that comes with Windows XP. But even these become useless unless they are kept up to date which with the anti-virus and anti-spyware programs now mean daily updates just to try and keep one step ahead.

On another forum, following this exact format, the security feature for sign-up was recently upgraded, and within a day, 25 bots had attempted to sign up and been rebuked!!
It does save alot of bother, and alot of nastiness appearing before your eyes!!

i wonder why some forums don't have those codes?

maybe they don't mind getting spam.

as for me, i have more virus programmes on my computer than bill gates!
