British pop star SHAYNE WARD has good reason for getting stage fright - he fell through a trap door during rehearsals in Sheffield, northern England recently.
The 22-year-old singer, who won British TV singing contest THE X FACTOR in 2005, only escaped unscathed because he landed on top of stage hands who were working underneath the trap door at the time. He recalls, "I actually fell through a trap door during rehearsals in Sheffield. It was one of those things that happens. Everything was great and then it happened. I stepped to the right and kind of stepped through it. "I got a wee fright but it was fine. I was lucky.
It could have been a lot worse. There were people underneath the stage and I fell on top of them. I got caught by one of them. It makes you realise that the stage is a very dangerous place."
