Whatever people think of her, it's sad when people have these less-than perfect lives and then die young - as we all know well, it's sad when anyone dies young.

Sad news indeed. I felt for her when her Son died last September, thye seemed to be very close and I bet the grief she was suffering was too much to bear. May she rest is peace.

A post mortem is being carried out to determine how glamour model Anna Nicole Smith died.

The ex-Playboy Playmate, who fought her way to the US Supreme Court over her billionaire husband's estate, collapsed at a hotel last night.

The 39-year-old, a voluptuous platinum blonde who grew up idolising the screen legend Marilyn Monroe, was pronounced dead at a hospital in Florida.

A private nurse, who had apparently been alone with her in a room at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, first raised the alarm by calling a hotel operator.

"I can confirm that she is deceased. It's as shocking to me as to you guys," said Smith's lawyer, Ronald Rale.

Some commentators have already been speculating about her death amid reports of drug abuse at a time of grief and fresh legal wrangles.

Just five months ago, Smith's 20-year-old son from her first marriage, Daniel, died in a Bahamas hospital three days after she gave birth to her daughter, Dannielyn Hope Marshall Stern.

She then quickly became embroiled in a paternity suit over the baby girl filed by an ex-boyfriend, Larry Birkhead.

Smith insisted her partner, Howard K Stern, was the father.

Anna Nicole burial set for Friday, mother loses appeal

Anna Nicole Smith will be buried next to her son Daniel in the Bahamas on Friday morning after a Florida court rejected an appeal by the late star's estranged mother.

Virgie Arthur challenged a ruling to bury Smith in Nassau, and her appeal was heard yesterday morning.

However, judges at Florida's Fourth District Court Of Appeals overruled Arthur's bid for custody of her daughter's remains late yesterday, re-awarding the corpse to attorney Richard Milstein, the legally-appointed guardian to Smith's baby daughter Dannielynn.

Milstein, Smith's companion Howard K Stern and her ex-boyfriend Larry Birkhead had already agreed to bury the late model in the Bahamas, her adopted home.

The funeral will now take place, as planned, on Friday morning.

Anna Nicole Smith finally buried in Bahamas

Los Angeles- Twenty-two days after her fatal collapse in a Florida hotel, curvaceous gossip icon Anna Nicole Smith finally got her funeral Friday following a protracted battle over the rights to her estate and the body which made her famous. The spectacular ceremony took place in a Bahamas church on the island where she had gone to give birth to her daughter Dannielynn in September, and where her 20-year-old son Daniel died when he came to visit her two days later.

Crowds of locals and media lined the route from the airport to the Mount Horeb Baptist Church where some 300 friends and family sat in flower-festooned pews to pay their final respects.

Reports said that Smith was dressed in a pink couture gown emblazoned with a heart to signify that she died of a broken heart. She was also to be buried in a tiara and holding an urn containing the ashes of her late husband, oil tycoon J Howard Marshall II, whom she married in 1994 when he was 89 and she was 26.

Smith's body was flown in by private jet from a Florida morgue where it had been held pending resolution of the court actions. The body was accompanied by Smith's estranged mother Virgie Arthur who had led legal attempts to prevent a burial next to Smith's son in the Bahamas.

Legal action will continue over custody of Dannielynn, who stands to inherit a fortune if courts uphold Smith's claim to half of Marshall's 1.6-billion-dollar estate.

The key players in the custody battle are Arthur, Howard K Stern - Smith's companion in recent years who is listed as the father on Dannielynn's birth certificate - and photographer Larry Birkhead, a former lover of Smith who claims paternity.

Smith Died of Accidental Overdose

DANIA BEACH, Fla. Mar 26, 2007 (AP)— Former Playboy Playmate Anna Nicole Smith died of an accidental overdose of a sleeping medication and other drugs after she was found unresponsive at a hotel, authorities said Monday.

Broward County Medical Examiner Joshua Perper said Smith died of "combined drug intoxication" with the sleeping medication chloral hydrate as the major factor. Smith was taking a lengthy list of other medications, including methadone for pain, he said.

Chloral hydrate is a sedative used to treat insomnia and alcohol withdrawal, relieve anxiety and ease post-surgery pain. Perper said Smith had been on several antidepressant and antianxiety drugs prior to her death.

"We found nothing to indicate any foul play," said Chief Charlie Tiger of the Seminole police department.
