LONDON/AMSTERDAM, March 5 (Reuters) - Television production company Endemol behind worldwide TV hits like "Big Brother" and "Fear Factor", said on Monday that Chief Operating Officer Tom Barnicoat would step down with immediate effect.

The sudden departure of Barnicoat from the Netherlands-based company's four-member management board in a brief statement reignited speculation about Endemol moving closer to a sale.
