I read a very interesting article in another Sunday paper basically saying - 'what gives Davina the right to start telling schools what they should and shouldn't be teaching about sex education?'
I have to admit - I totally agreed with the article. Ok she's a mother, ok she's had sex - but how does she know what is done (and not done) in terms of this type of education in schools? And what is appropriate?
My biggest bugbear at the moment is schools being told by the government/media/so-called celebrities- you need more drugs/sex/health education in schools to combat what is going on in society......
what a load of bo@l%c$s!!!!!!!!! - there's plenty of quality stuff going on already. As teachers, we have NO CONTROL of what the kids get up to when they're not in school, and what we need is for parents to start taking more responsibility for:
a) where their children are at night
b) who they're with
c) how much money they have to play with etc etc etc
and generally setting a good example of what is acceptable behaviour and what is not.......
Sometimes people forget that children are only at school for 27.5 hours of the week (out of 168) - and our primary responsibilty to to teach them, not parent them............oh my word - I am on a RANT
