Joe Mott quits Daily Star
The Daily Star's showbusiness columnist, Joe Mott, has quit the paper.
Mott is understood to be leaving the Star to concentrate on writing and television work.
He joined the paper full-time in the summer of 2002 and took over editing the Hot column after Ben Todd and then Sean Hamilton left.
Last year he became the subject of stories himself after he began dating the Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding. However, as revealed in yesterday's Sun, the pair recently split.
Mott recently took time out from editing his column to appear as a judge in ITV2 magazine reality show Deadline, along with Janet Street-Porter.
It is thought that either Carl Stroud or Kim Dawson - who have been covering while Mott appeared on Deadline - will take over Mott's Hot column.
