Today I got a text from my brother. He was really pleased that I'd remembered my niece's birthday - but I got the wrong one!

The card was addressed to the younger one, the present said Happy Birthday to her and all that. But it was her older sister's birthday - I wrote the wrong name in my diary.

Doh! Obviously I am a very defective aunty ::lol::

I was wondering if anyone else was brave enough to contribute their embarrassing moments on this thread.

I've walked into a lamp post before now as well

I've walked into a lamp post as well, was reading a text whilst walking out of a boozer in Leyton in North London as Dale were about to take on Leyton Orient and "BANG", walked right into it, head first.

I had a black eye the next day and had the 3 mates I was with wetting themselves with laughter for hours.

I'm sure I've done something more embarrassing but can't think now so will report back when I can.

I once got a bird trapped in my chimney, which was covered by a piece of wood to keep out draughts, and everyone belonging to me was away. I'm not keen on birds at close quarters, so I rang my dad, and he suggested ringing the fire station at the top of my street for advice. They said they'd come and look as it was so close. I was mortified when they arrived in their big appliance, and the whole truckful of them tramped into my lounge. The bird they rescued (which had sounded like a crow) was a titchy wee thing. I was as red as the shirt I was wearing! I did relate the incident at work, as it was too funny to keep to myself. Then, our year 4 kids went for a visit to the same fire station, and they were told about the visit to rescue a bird from a chimney just down the street (when one of the kids asked did they still rescue pets!).

Today I had a really embarrassing 'crying in public' moment. I took my car for its MOT and expected it to breeze through because it's very low mileage. However when I went to pay it had failed because of something to do with the suspension. Basically the whole lot all in will be just short of £300. Well on top of having £2000 stolen from my account this week and now having to find 300quid from nowhere it was just one thing too many. I could feel my eyes welling up and I was biting my lip not to make myself cry at the desk. The bloke asked my address and I was so choked I could hardly speak. He gave me a really odd look as if to say why are you crying over an MOT? I ended up having to explain briefly why I was upset and leave really quickly. (which made me cry even more!) I'm sure he thought I was a right weirdo. Which I probably am :-?

oh no B - i hate MOTs - it's like waiting for the result of a court case or something. And on top of the credit card too..

The Bug is poorly as well at the moment and it's not looking good. Might even have to sell it, which, if it happens, will be a very sad day.

HC it doesn't make you a weirdo at all. You've had a horrible horrible week and getting a surprise like that probably brought it back. It's doubtful you'd have cried if you hadn't had the shock a few days ago.

Bad things always happen to the nice people :(

That terrible Boopy.

I know how you feel about MOT's ...mine fails every year usually costing me £100 odd.

Kids however love MOT day as we drop the car off to be tested and then go to the MacD across the road while we wait.
