Wow ,weather is changing rapidly.

Was outside with blue skies and temperature just under 9C with bright sunshine when this large grey cloud appeared from the West.

As it approached it began feeling colder so I went in doors .About a minute later we had a large snow/sleet/hail shower and temperatures have plummeted .It's currently 6.4C and still falling all in a mater of 5 minutes.

Now we have blue skies again .

With continuing wintry showers and yo-yo'ing temperatures the weather has certainly changed.
Most of the showers have meant the temperature dropping by a couple of degrees while they pass but that last one that is still hanging on has seen a drop of just under 5 degrees with the temperature now stable at 1.9C with flurries of snow. Each shower comes with strong winds.

It's not settling except in the ridges of a few garage roofs but it's now bitterly cold with it unlikely to recover much due to the lateness of the day.

The Met Office now has at least 3/4 of the country under threat of heavy drifting snow by morning.

The cars are thick in ice from the earlier showers along with the roads.

I haven't seen a real snow shower tonight (Sunday) but who knows what'll happen in the small hours.

Temperature is 1.3C ,the Barometer is 993mb and the wind direction is North-North-West (324 degrees).

Where Is The Snow?

Monday March 19, 2007

Freezing winds from the Arctic have seen temperatures plummet across Britain - but the predicted blanket of snow has failed to materialise.

Gritters were out in force overnight in preparation for icy conditions and there has been some snow particularly on high ground in Northern Ireland and Scotland.

But much of it has failed to settle and there has been little disruption to road or rail services.

Sky News weather presenter Denise Nurse said: "There have been some snow showers, but things aren't too bad.

"I've always said March is an unpredictable month."

Temperatures today will range from a high of 8C (46F) in the south of England to 1C (34F) on the north west coast of Scotland.

It is expected to once again dip below freezing across much of Britain tonight.

Environmentalists have expressed relief that the weather is not as bad as predicted.

There had been fears that many animals that had come out of hibernation early because of the mild winter might struggle to find food if the ground was frozen.

After Wednesday, temperatures will rise slightly back to average levels for this time of year, but the forecaster warned that warm weather is some time off.

The last big snowfalls to hit Britain were last month, when they caused widespread travel disruption and left thousands of people stranded in South Wales and the borders.

A fraction cooler this end.
A notch under 23C / 73F.

Very foggy early morning until the sun broke through just after 9am. Then clear Blue skies all day.

It's still 17C / 63F.

Looking at the 5 day forecast they have an air frost (-1C) forecast for Thursday night !

Tomorrow is looking at 17-18C.

It has been so fine here for practically the entire 2 weeks that the school kids have been off, it's been mad! I remember not in the far too distant past that we had snow in the Easter holidays!

After just returning from a 2 mile walk to get my hair ,I think the best description for the weather is Brrrr !

I know that cycling the 4 1/2 miles into work in the mornings in these temperatures means than I don't break into a sweat but it would be nice if it warmed up a bit.

But saying that I think temperatures are nearer the norm and we have been spoiled recently with the higher than normal temperatures hence why it seems so much colder.

So far it's looking like the forecast is on schedule ,the breeze has died right down though it is still from North-North-East (032 degrees). Temperature is rising slowly and is a fraction under 10C.

The latest forecast for this region shows overcast condition till about mid afternoon when the cloud clears giving a high of 16C. Wind speed very light and moving in direction from North-North-East to South-East.

Sunday will start the morning with clear skies before clouding over before dawn. The morning looks to be cloudy with showers around midday with the afternoon and Evening being dull and overcast. The night shows heavy rain. The wind will become gusty around midday when the first of the rain arrives. Direction will continue to move from South-East though to West before returning to South-West. Temperature is shown as a high of 16C.

Monday through Wednesday shows a similar pattern of sunny intervals with clear overnight skies. Temperatures 16 - 17C during the day and around 8C overnight with the extra cloud Wednesday night holding temperatures around 10C.

Based on the forecast charts for Wellingborough.

Wow ! I don't know what it's like in other parts of the country but so far in the last 2 days I've recorded 35mm rain and looking at the window it looks as if it starting again.

Also since yesterday evening there has been some strong gusts of wind.

I haven't seen any UK tv in the last couple of days so the last forecast I saw was Saturday afternoon.

I did see footage of damage caused by heavy rain and strong winds in Northern Germany on their tv via satellite.
