John what did you think about the bits where it showed all the girls who 'fancied' Brian and were congratulating him on his win. Dermot said he had been waiting all series to show him that clip.
Mmmm I have pretty much the same opinion you expressed in an earlier message.
Seriously, you have to ask yourself if any self-respecting actress is really going to fancy some slobbering kid from the arse end of Essex? Obviously, a BBLB crew were sent out to where-ever it is that soap stars live and asked to record a piece specifically about/for Brian. So these clips are nothing more than just another one of the "We're rooting for Brian" moments that have infested BBLB this year.
What might have been more interesting... BBLB could have 'asked' those very same second-rate actresses which HMs they might have fancied. I'm sure few would have said Brian to be frank with you.
I'll tell you what does really trouble me though... Brian made it a point to discuss the soap stars from popular shows and particularly those on C4. It strikes me that Brian either accidentally or by design set a trap that BBLB/BB just couldn't resist. It was too easy for them to pick up their little black books and phone people already in their professional circle of contacts and ask for a favour.
Not sure what to think of the 'congratulations' at the moment. These clips might have been filmed in advance but in a way that they could be cut/edited if Brian didn't win. A few may have been filmed Saturday even? The real issue isn't so much what was said but that so many of them had cameras pointed at them. Where for example were the numerous clips of famous protesters for Carole? Or the clips of twins from across the country praising Sam & Amanda? Or the famous ravers or music event organisers who were 'Avin it for Tracey etc?
Brian's genius (if one is at work) was to associate himself with several very popular cultural and youth centric spheres, like music, tv and soaps. This (and his clowning around) provided BBLB with a steady stream of easy hooks from which they could construct a 'package' for broadcast... essentially, its lazy TV making.
In my opinion, Brian would not have won based on the Live Feed output. I also doubt the extra coverage he received on the HL Shows would have been enough to convince the public (although it would have been in the balance). I am though certain that without the almost unswerving support he got each and every day for the last 5 weeks on BBLB he would not now be the BB8 winner. For that, C4 should be asking themselves some tough questions over the next few days.
