Eviction nights are a time to party, but for some homes nearby there's little to celebrate.

Residents living behind the Big Brother House in Borehamwood have complained about noise and disturbances from crowds.

Fireworks and screaming fans were some of the issues raised by residents of Hillside Avenue and Bullhead Road.

advertisementJames Bailey, who lives in Bullhead Road, said: "I was walking the dogs on eviction night last Friday and I thought I had timed it right, when all the celebrations would be over.

"I walked along an alleyway that leads from Bullhead Road and around the side of the studios and I felt a bit of wood hit the back of my head, which must have been part of a firework.

"I wasn't injured, but the fireworks are a noise nuisance, especially for the dogs."

Shokat Najian, of Hillside Avenue, said: "It is really bad. Thank God Big Brother is all over now.

"It's the fireworks and the big crowds that are the worst.

"A lot of people in the area have complained and I think it should be transferred from here and moved to somewhere else."

Amanda Defries, also of Hillside Avenue, said: "I can understand why people would be annoyed, as you can hear the screams of the crowds and presenter Davina McCall on a Friday, but the rest of the week is fine.

"They have to warm up the crowds on a Friday night to get them excited for the show.

"I wouldn't like to be near Tesco when all the crowds come out, but we have had it for years now and it's only loud on the Friday night evictions."

A spokesman for Endemol, the producer of the show, said: "Any disturbance we cause, we want to keep to an absolute minimum.

"We specifically send letters to the residents affected to make sure they realise about final night, especially with the noise of the fireworks.

"We work closely with the council to make sure that disruption is minimised."
