I'm puzzled by this whole moving thing-it was a great surprise-I can't think of anyone who would have been so settled in at Beckenham than Kate.I guess she just fancied a change and it came along. All her friends and family are in London-I can see her getting lonely midweeks in Birmingham.I know its a great City and all that and brilliant for moving around at night but she doesn't know many people and is used to going out with people who look after her. It's about 2 hours by car back to London.
I just think, it's a good opportunity for her, really. Kerrang are trying to go "national". She's always said she prefers radio to TV, she does seem very much more relaxed on 'tradio. She's also able to do her accents and voices, her talents in doing this has never really been utilised in her media career, imho .
She also enjoys a bit of structure in her life, I think. The dance DJing is all very well, but certainly during the winter it's very much a weekend only type-thing. In the end she just can't really go out during the week anyway, and her friends always travel to her gigs at the weekends. I'm sure she'll make new friends in Brum anyway.
I did think it was odd going on a "rock" station, but really it makes more sense then going on say "Magic", if she was on a pop station playing R&B and pop, it would go against her more credible music she plays in sets. She keeps on saying she hates it when people think she's going to play cheesy music.
I like the music they play, tbh. Buzzcocks, Ramones, Undertones, early Oasis, early Manics. I must admit I've never listened to a "rock" station, I assumed it would be all Iron Maiden, Fields of Nephillim or summat. Yet I like the music on Kerrang, I may listen to it other then Kate and Tim's show.
