I've been away for the past 16 days - I can't believe how much Gethin has improved during that time. I hope he doesn't win over Alesha though.

I think Alesha's paso would have been better if danced to a different song/music than the one choosen.

Poor Matt Di Angelo, his nerves really are getting the better of him.

If Gethin has been getting private dance lesssons the others should take heed and do the same because he is dancing like an old pro. ;)
I also think Matt and Alesha might be allowing their nerves to get the better of them and if they do not want to see the new and improved Gethin taking the title from under their noses they had better tell their nerves to take a hike..

Kelly's the best ..but her pain was too much
STRICTLY EXCLUSIVE: BRENDAN ON KEL'S EXIT

By Lara Gould Tv Reporter

Strictly Come Dancing's Brendan Cole has revealed how his devastated dance partner Kelly Brook tried her hardest to continue on the show after her dad died... but her grief proved too much.

Brendan says: "Kelly was upset but her first reaction was to carry on as a tribute to her dad.

"But we went into training on the Tuesday, the day after he died, and I could see she was a different person.

She managed to keep her spirits up, but was much quieter than usual. "On the Wednesday she came into the studio and just seemed to want to submerge herself in the dancing... she was more focused than ever.

"We were practising our cha-cha and it was literally the best I'd ever seen her dance.

"It seemed that her dad's passing had given her a new focus and a drive to win. Kelly seemed to be thinking, 'I'm going to do this for my dad and make sure it's the best damn thing I've ever done'."

But after two days, Kelly made the difficult decision to pull out of the BBC1 show. "I just said to her, 'Don't worry and let me know if you need anything - I'm there for you'," says Brendan.

So sadly, Strictly's 9million viewers never got to see the couple's tribute to her dad Ken Parsons, who lived in Kelly's home town of Rochester in Kent. "She obviously made a decision to take some time to grieve," Brendan told the Sunday Mirror.

"She felt she wasn't able to go on, so it was a case of her saying to me, 'I'm so sorry but I can't do the show any more'."

Ken had been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in the summer. When Kelly joined the line-up for Strictly in September, only Brendan knew how serious her her dad's illness was, and he respected her decision to keep it private.

"I knew pretty much from the start," Brendan said. "That's was why I was so defensive of her in front of the judges because I knew what was really going on behind the scenes.

"On a show like Strictly you have to know pretty much everything about your partner. You can't work that closely and intimately with someone if you don't know what's going on at home because you have to be able to appreciate the down days. If she was having a bad day, I understood why. Looking back that's another reason why I was so proud of her.

"Kelly could easily have gone down the route of saying, 'My dad's ill and I'm having a hard time'. But she was a trouper and she didn't mention it once. She just kept it to herself and concentrated on her dancing."

Kelly's sadness also forced Brendan to face up to his own loss last month when his cousin in New Zealand passed away after battling cancer.

"I knew what Kelly was going through because I lost a close family member during the series. Kelly knew about it. I had a couple of bad days too, but Kelly respected that," he says.

Brendan's loss also helped him provide a much-needed shoulder for Kelly to cry on in the hours after receiving news of her dad's death. The 32-year-old dancer says he has made it clear to Kelly, who is engaged to Hollywood star Billy Zane, he would support her whatever she chose to do. But Brendan does admit that leaving the competition at such a late stage was disappointing - especially as the couple were the bookies' favourites for the final. That's the disappointing aspect of it all I suppose, knowing how much we could have achieved," he says.

"The week before we'd gone out on a bit of a downer with the judges so it was a shame we didn't get the chance to go back and show them what we were really capable of."

Brendan, who won the first series with BBC newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky in 2004, added: "My disappointment I suppose, was more on Saturday night when I was watching everyone else go out on to the dance floor and thinking, 'We belong out there'. It was disappointing not to be on the floor that night with Kelly."

But for now, Brendan is still enjoying the show as a member of the audience - and he has his own verdicts on the remaining contenders (see above).

He says: "This series is one of the best yet, and the standard of the dancers has been great and so entertaining."

Cole's views on the final four contestants

EMERGING TALENT

Letitia and Darren

It's amazing how her confidence has grown. She's worked hard and it's certainly paid off. Good luck to her.

TIPPED FOR THE TOP

Gethin & Camilla

Underrated, understated and undermarked. I think Geth is technically the best dancer on the show.

ULTIMATE PERFORMER

Alesha & Matt

Total star quality - switches it on as soon as she dances. Footwork isn't the best, but the judges are smitten.

THE HOTTEST CHEMISTRY

Matt & Flavia

These two have wicked chemistry, which is crucial in a good dance partnership. Matt's looks will help him win votes.

Strictly Come Dancing - Nan's the word for Alesha Dixon
Alesha Dixon has said having the support of both her nans helped her get through training last week.

The ex-MisTeeq singer, who has been a favourite of the judges all season, said the previous week had been emotionally difficult but seeing her grandmas cheered her up.

However, she said that when they came to visit they told her she was not taking the competition seriously enough!

"I couldn't believe they came down here to tell me off!" Alesha joked on the official BBC website. "That was good fun and put things in perspective."

Alesha, who has been dancing with Matthew Cutler, also explained why the week had been a tough one and why she found performing the foxtrot an almost upsetting experience.

"The reason I nearly cried was a build-up of things that had happened in my life - then dancing to a song that was emotional for me," she said, adding that because the judging panel are looking for her moves to be perfect, she is under a lot pressure.

Alesha has reached the final three of Strictly Come Dancing alongside Matt Di Angelo and Gethin Jones.

Strictly Come Dancing - Spice Girls to appear on show

It will be Spicy Come Dancing this week as the ballroom-based show welcomes some very special guests.

The Spice Girls, who are currently on a global reunion tour, are to perform on the next episode of Strictly, according to judge Bruno Tonioli.

The fiery Italian let slip to the Sun that the five-piece will sing 1996 Christmas track 2 Become 1 for the results show on Sunday.

"It will be a lot of fun," Bruno said, while a source added: "Getting the Spice Girls on the show is a real coup."

"I know the X Factor were desperate to get the band on for the semi-final or the final but it was Strictly that won out in the end."

Fans of the show will remember that Emma Bunton aka Baby Spice appeared in the last series of Strictly, finishing in third place behind Matt Dawson and Mark Ramprakash.

Mel B has also taken part in the US version - Dancing with the Stars - but lost in the final to racing driver Helio Castroneves.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that Emma sprained her ankle during a recent Las Vegas concert, meaning she is currently on crutches.

The singer has assured fans that she will recover speedily and hopefully in time for the start of the tour's UK leg on Saturday.

Spices scrap Strictly

SPICES SCRAP SLOT ON STRICTLY AFTER BABY INJURES HER ANKLE

It's all gone Strictly shambolic for The Spice Girls - after Emma Bunton sprained her ankle just days before the UK leg of their reunion world tour.

Poor Baby, 31, has her left foot in a cast and is hobbling around on crutches after falling over during their Vegas gig on Tuesday.

The band aim to go ahead with tomorrow's gig at London's O2 Arena, but have scrapped a performance on the semi-finals of Strictly Come Dancing.

The BBC1 dance show was thrown into chaos after the Girls pulled out of today's recording at the last minute. James Blunt gallantly stepped in to sing instead and bosses hope the Spices will now appear on the final on December 22.

Emma slipped during Spice Up Your Life. Although in a lot of pain - as their song Wannabe might put it, "zig a zig ahhhh!" - she battled through till the end of the song. She was then whisked to a Vegas hospital for an X-ray.

The accident has left her barely able to walk - she even needed help from a burly bodyguard. Gamely, she still wore a stiletto on her good foot as the group arrived at LA International Airport, where a Virgin Atlantic plane was renamed Spice One in their honour.

Emma said: "I had a tumble onstage and unfortunately I have sprained my ankle, so I'm hobbling around on crutches. I am doing everything I can to get better. I am even seeing David Beckham's doctor!

"I am keeping my fingers crossed for the weekend. Even if I have to come out on crutches I will be there." The injury is terrible timing for The Spice Girls, who arrived in London on Thursday for the start of their 17-date stint at the O2.

A spokeswoman for the group said: "We'll have to see how Emma feels on Saturday as to what she is going to be able to do."

A source close to the group added: "The dance routines are quite demanding. The band hope they won't have to make any changes but they might have to."

This must all be horribly familiar to Emma, who broke her ankle in June 1997 after falling off her towering platforms while filming for a Turkish TV show. Baby clearly has problems with grown-up shoes...

Great performances from all 3 remaining contestants in last night show - I couldn't make up my mind on which of them danced the best (yes I could, Alesha!) they were all so good.

When Gethin speaks he sounds like Jamie Oliver, to me.
I hope Alesha wins but I expect it'll be either Gethin or Matt. :-(
