The Kate-hair thing was odd today. Interesting, anyway. {@}

Kate was having a bad hair day and was moaning about her hair and a hypno tried to change her view of it.Still if its rubbish its rubbish yeah.It sort of took the show over-be interesting to see if the treatment lasts-specially if he does the fear of flying too.

Agree with this whole-heartedly, Vilt, I don't mind him slating guests if they are a bit arsey, but he makes his decisions to do so, before they even come on. When he really goes off on one, he even cuts Kate's and Lucies microphones, so they can't even temper his madness. The interview with that bloke off Neighbours was cringeworthy. Also going against officially the nicest man in the world, Ardal O'Hanlon, was also very odd.

This is what Tim Shaw's like. He's been sacked, 'officially', eight times from radio stations for falling out with people or pushing the envelope too far - something he's never slow to tell Kate.
He is a talented DJ & communicator, but such a show-off at times.

He built a formidable reputation for wind-ups & piss-take on Kerrang's 'Asylum' for three years, including an interesting meeting with Kate - where a hoax fight was set-up - I think Kate took method acting a bit too far & may have connected with a punch.
He became Kerrang's most important jock & got the breakfast show - which is where Kate came in.

I think it's still too early to say how this show will go. Tim Shaw can't help himself sometimes & regularly feels the need wind people up, sometimes unnecessarily. He is very cynical about people who make their living in the media as relationship experts, lifestyle coaches, etc.
Kate is there to act as the balance.
Still, the show is nothing like anything you would hear elsewhere - an important point for me because good light-entertainment radio or tv has to be at least slightly anarchic - it's got to push a few boundaries sometimes.

However, Tim & Kate do appear to be bonding very well - great show today - they're working at The Clothes Show at the NEC for Kerrang this weekend.
It might be too early to say but I think he has alot of affection for Kate - Kate went to a meal at his house the other night & got on very well with his wife Hayley.

Tim's interests off air & away from the media are history, cars & engineering - he's a total geek- so he generally pays respect to guests who come on the show to talk about those subjects - he loved Chris Ryan, Sterling Moss, etc.

He has his own views on what makes good radio & tv. He tends to be initially cynical about anything which may not appeal to him, no matter whether he's watched it or listened to it. He is presenting a commercial radio breakfast show so all sorts of guests are going to come on promoting this, that or other.
I was exaggerating when I said he hates everybody. Generally, he can be mischievious at the outset of an interview but if the guy or girl has the intelligence to go with it he will be very nice. On rare occasions he will prepare to be obnoxious or mischievious - sometimes he will cut people off if they bore him.

Listen, I love Chris Morris - Tim Shaw is not Chris Morris, but will create interesting radio moments you will not experience anywhere else.
I, too, felt a bit sorry for the Neighbours guy who he totally took the p!ss out of - as did Kate(felt sorry for him, that is) - but the indifference was planned by Tim beforehand.
The other week when Phil Jupitus stormed off because Tim jokingly asked him whether he had a small 'winkle' was hilarious. I mean, aren't comedians supposed to understand the joke?, deal with hecklers, etc.
The comedian Rob Deering was on the show the other day(I think that's his name - he was on Totally Top Trumps with Kate a few years ago). Tim had a plan to have him on & keep him waiting for ages, plus get Kate to flirt with him. What a top guy, Rob accepted the banter, & was very funny. I think Tim wants to test comedians & see how good they really are.

Today, Ricky Hatton was on - couldn't believe it! - good luck to Ricky!!
Tim was totally in awe & couldn't have been nicer.

All good points but although Ardal O'Hallan was handled to good effect-challenging I thought it was ok-in the same show on Monday he just cut off Pauline Quirke who was giving a brief interesting talk on performing arts for children.I suppose at the moment-it's all exposure and almost cult to appear but I just think it could go the wrong way and there's a risk guests won't want to bother. It would then be scrapping the bottom of the barrell or even worse Jade again.

Fair point, Vilt, but Tim Shaw will do as he thinks best... for the show and himself.
The Pauline Quirke point is very important though because she was lovely & genuine. Kate was angry with Tim for cutting her off & said she wanted to punch him.

Not clear if Tim & Kate will broadcast during Christmas - not usual for flagship programmes during Christmas week.

:D Anyway, Tim & Kate are in christmas spirit this week - Kate is cooking the christmas dinner on thursday for friday's show. :D

Yes, does make you wonder if that was a terribly healthy relationship, ho-hum, it's over now.

Enjoying the show this week, Kate's definitely asserting herself more. Tim seems to have calmed down, less rudeness to guests, more humour. I laughed at that Anthony woz-his-face interview, surreal and funny.

Fair enough, Jonathan Woodgate made Kate feel self-concious - & yes, probably was a prat for not understanding Kate - who DEFINITELY has integrity, didn't want to be a 'footballer's wife' & wanted to make a career of her own - which is what she did.

Anyway, that was funny; Tim had the sound effects of a submarine at his disposal and carried his p!sstake off brilliantly while Kate was trying to ask Anthony about cooking christmas turkey!

Kate's sis' Karen is in Birmingham to be with Kate & brought Kate's nephew, 7-month-old Louis-Jake into the studio today - Aww
Tim Shaw said he was the daddy, which made Kate giggle - that's the kind of show it is!

Tim confirmed that 'The Morning After' show is taking a break for christmas week & he & Kate are returning the week after in the new year. ()^

The earlier piece where they played AWT saying"Dripping -From- the Bottom"over and over to the 118 operator made me get the giggle fit for the first time in a while."Is Bottom the town caller?" ::lol::

::lol:: Tim Shaw is hit & miss at times but the whole AWT thing, including the rude stuff!, and submarine/torpedo finale, was actually quite clever comedy.

Anyway, last show today 'till January 2nd. Kate brought in the christmas meal she'd cooked.
I notice old Endemol had an advert for - 'Big Brother - Celebrity Hijack.'

Haven't looked at Kate's DJ myspace for a few days but she did say she has a DJ gig on New Year's Eve. Tim Shaw asked how much money Kate was getting for this, as he always does for celebrities who come on the show promoting something - he's so rude & nosey at times!

Aww - Tim didn't quite allude for radio reasons, but it sounds like Kate was with his family last night - they won't see each other 'till the next year.

At the end of the show Tim said he would be filming the audience bits for his appearances as 'Mr Inappropriate' on Channel 4's 'Balls of Steel' in January - broadcast in February - which means he has to be in a London studio the night before 'The Morning After' breakfast show in birmingham ie, very busy, much travelling, etc.

Aww - he asked Kate to be there with him(so they're both knackered in the morning) - he's such a softie!

Didn't understand that idea-Kate was tired today though as she was working last night-til 2-the final hour was a real drag-they had to wheel out the old boot to fill in.Kate's working the weekend-cooking dinner Xmas day for family(supposedly)then weekend in Ireland and back for a big night NY eve with two events at wolves and chesterfield so there's zero chance of london after.
I'm liking Priscilla-the rich 5 year old"I've got five ponies!"

Don't know for sure - but Kate DJing last night sounded like another Tim Shaw lie. When Tim mentioned it, Kate asked when his wife Hayley had gone to bed.
Tim & Kate were doing that whole p!sstake thing after 8.OOAM this morning where Kate was talking about Tim's 'problem' with Hayley, a set-up for the 'relationship' expert who came on minutes later, called Sarah Cox.
Tim did tell Kate to 'shut up'(for comic purposes) because she had only met his wife for the third time - I thought it was yesterday or last night.

The Morning After is back on 02/01/08 - so Kate's gigs in the midlands on New Year's Eve make sense.

Always cautious about a venture like breakfast radio so I still think it's still too early to judge a show like 'The Morning After' - I think a breakfast radio show should be given time to settle down, build up an audience & should get at least six months before judgement.
I would say at this stage:a lot of promise & potential. It's important that Kate & Tim get on, of course, but the show has to appeal as well.

'The Morning After' is a policy shift from Kerrang to make in-roads into the mainstream commercial breakfast market. Rock music, contemporary or retro, is played throughout the programme, but the show is basically mainstream where Tim Shaw as the leader, Kate his sidekick, try to make things light-hearted for the listener. Tim Shaw sometimes has flights of fancy but has clearly tempered his persona to suit breakfast radio in contrast with the late night show he did previously on Kerrang - where he met Kate for the first time.

Personally speaking, six months ago I would have said Kate should be looking for radio opportunities relating to the dance scene - an area where Kate has worked incredibly hard to achieve respect & credibilty - like her fellow DJ soulmate & Radio 1 DJ, Mistress De Funk - but she's always had mainstream ambitions as well.
