Leon claims: "I'm single!"
Now that we're over the MASSIVE SHOCK of Saturday night, cast your mind back a few weeks (difficult at this time on a Monday morning, we know). Leon Jackson, winner of X Factor, revealed (or at least the X Factor press office did) that he was dating the blonde one from Hope, aka Emily. In fact she dumped her boyfriend for him, they went on "romantic dates" together, she gave him a massive hug when he won on Saturday, yadda yadda ya. But now that Leon's won, he appears to be claiming he's single again. "I'm single and in a really good position of being focused at the moment. If I was in a relationship it would take a strain. Just now I need to focus on music." So, what, are they really over or is it just one of these "need to sell records to teenage girls so mustn't have a girlfriend" situations?

Did YOU have difficulty voting for Rhydian?

At one point during Saturday’s live final of The X Factor, phone votes between Leon and Rhydian were as close as one per cent. Ever since the shock result, which revealed Leon had won the competition, there have been complaints from Rhydian fans that they couldn't get through to register their support, instead being greeted with an engaged tone. And while ITV is denying that there were any problems with the phone lines, a LOT of you reckon there were. So come on – let us know if you had difficulty getting through to vote by posting a comment below...

Angry Welsh radio stations ban Leon single

Posted by heatworld on Monday 17 Dec 2007

Not one, not two, but FIVE Welsh radio stations have decided to boycott X Factor winner Leon Jackson's single today. "Our radio station presenters have been inundated with calls suggesting that during Saturday's X Factor, their votes for Welsh favourite Rhydian, supported by local Neath diva Katherine Jenkins, were not able to be counted as lines were jammed," programme manager Gareth Davies said, adding, "As a result, until justice is done, we’ve decided not to play the winner's single on our group of stations."

ITV respond to 'Leon Fix' claims – latest statement

ITV has issued another statement refuting suggestions that voting lines for the final of The X Factor on Saturday night were blocked – and that Leon WAS the rightful winner. A spokesperson for the show said, "We had millions of votes cast and there were no problems with the voting. It took some Virgin customers several efforts due to the high call volume, but that was all. In any huge phone event like this, a few people will have to keep trying."

Well I also had difficulty getting through and I was trying to vote for Leon, so I think it is just because Dermot said they were so close that everyone was trying to vote and just jammed up the lines. I have 2 phones - one is BT and one is Virgin. It was only the Virgin one which I had difficulty getting through on.

Dermot initially said there was 1% between them but after the show, they said there was less than 1% between them, so it looks as though Rhydian fans managed to make up some ground, which is probably why the lines were engaged.

How pathetically childish. Viewers should have voted earlier in the show to give them plenty of time, if they cared that much.

Straight from X Factor to Barbados: Simon Cowell jetskis out of TV row

It was a case of: 'Phone scandal? What phone scandal?' for X Factor judge Simon Cowell, who has jetted off for a luxury holiday in the Caribbean.

The 48-year-old mogul jumped straight on a plane to Barbados with his girlfriend Terri Seymour after the show wrapped, avoiding the wrath of furious fans who claim the voting lines for Rhydian Roberts were blocked.

Oo-eck, Leon's mum isn’t happy with Rhydian’s family...

Leon Jackson's mum Wendy isn't going to let anyone getting away with having a go at her wee boy. Talking about the phone-line episode on Scottish radio this afternoon, Wendy says, "I think it's just a lot of rubbish because on Saturday night I had a lot of people texting me they couldn't get through on the lines for Leon – they were absolutely jammed. I even had one person tell me they had tried 300 times to get through to Leon on a landline and they couldn't get through – so it's not just the Welsh folk that the lines were jammed, the Scottish ones were as well." But she doens't stop there – and why would you, when you can have a bit of a dig at Rhydian's family, too? "Actually Rhydian's mum came up and cuddled me at the start of the show," says Wendy. "When Leon won, not one member of his family came up to me to congratulate me after the show. I think it's been a fair competition and because Rhydian was the favourite all the way through that's why his family's upset, because he didn't win it."

The thing is, everyone expected Rhydian to win, because the media had gone on about it so much, but in truth, Leon received more votes than Rhydian every single week, so based on that fact and had we all known that, it wouldn't have come as much of a shock to everyone when Leon won as it did.

I think Rhydian is a poor loser. That is one of the reasons I didn't like him - his personality. I think he was putting on an act on the show to win votes, because he started off as a very different person - very arrogant and I think that is the real him. I think people warned him that he needed to be a bit nicer. Personality does play a part in it I think, because if you don't like someone then you wouldn't buy their records.

I heard an interview with Leon on the radio last night. I didn't realise that he did impersonations! He said that he had only had a few hours sleep in the last couple of days and it was now starting to catch up with him. When asked to choose between Kylie or Danni, he chose Danni and between Simon and Louis, he chose Simon. He said that Danni was a good mentor and did work extra hard because she was the newbie and had to prove herself. He also said that he liked the new single, because the words related to him a bit - 'There could be miracles if you believe' (right at the beginning, Danni had said to him 'You could be good, if you just believe in yourself. I believe in you - now you need to start believing in yourself')

Complaints over X Factor phone vote top 1000!

In just a few hours, the number of complaints Ofcom has received over vote lines for Saturday night's X Factor have shot up to 1,100. The complaints are mainly from people claiming they couldn't get through when trying to vote for Rhydian. It isn't known at this stage how long the Ofcom investigation will take...
