Heather fury as McCartney gets close to Kylie
Exclusive by Nikhita Mahajan
Heather Mills was left angry and distraught after watching Sir Paul McCartney "flirting" with Kylie Minogue live on TV.
Macca whooped and cheered as Kylie writhed on top of Jools Holland's grand piano in a sexy New Year's Eve routine.
Heather watched in dismay as her estranged husband then joined the singer for a cosy duet - even hugging her at the end. Friends of Heather's say she convinced herself his show of affection was a cruel public pot-shot.
One said: "She's really mad about the way Paul got close to Kylie. She reckons he did it on purpose and feels it was a deliberate public dig at her.
"She thinks he's just trying to prove a point, that he's moved on and is comfortable around other women. She was so hurt she burst into tears."
Heather's latest outburst comes after a string of spats between the battling pair as they prepare for a five-day public divorce battle in the High Court next month.
It proves how bitter the break-up has become, with almost everything they do seen as a calculated swipe.
Sir Paul and Kylie were special guests for Jools Holland's annual Hootenanny on BBC2.
After her raunchy solo, Jools asked Macca, 65, who he had enjoyed watching most, and he replied enthusiastically: "Kylie!"
He then joined 39-year-old Kylie on stage to sing his song Dance Tonight and at the end embraced her, lifting her off the ground.
"Heather was seething, seeing his flirting as an attempt to humiliate her," the friend said.
"She thinks he's kidding himself if he thinks he'd stand a chance with Kylie anyway."
But Sir Paul's friends say he has a genuine admiration for the star, who bravely battled breast cancer two years ago.
She even reminds him of first wife Linda, who died from the disease almost 10 years ago. A source close to Macca said: "Paul really admires Kylie. He has an affinity with her.
"The way she coped with cancer with dignity reminds him of Linda. She's the complete opposite to Heather.
"Paul once mentioned he'd like to record a track with Kylie. Although it's not known how serious he was, it wouldn't surprise me that if he knew it would anger Heather, he'd be more likely to record a duet.
"If they did, and it was a hit, it would be another blow to Heather because in the early stage of their relationship, he supported her on a track she recorded.
"But it didn't go anywhere. It was for charity but Heather wanted a hit to lift her own status in the music world."
The source added: "She's said in the past she has more musical talent than Paul because she was trained classically and he wasn't. She even claims he can't read music. But the bottom line is, he's the legendary musician - she isn't."
Heather, 40 this week, was already angry after Macca reportedly lavished £15,000 on gifts for their daughter Bea, three, including 20 outfits from Harrods and 10 Barbie dolls.
She felt Macca was trying to show her up and Barbie was a bad role model for Bea.
And when they met at Christmas to exchange Beatrice, Heather accused Macca of being sarcastic when he wished her a happy Christmas.
Since the split Heather claims she is now in so much debt she will have to sell the £3.25million house Macca bought her to keep Bea close to him.
The source said: "When they first split 18 months ago and Heather was looking for £200million she turned her nose up at the thought Paul may offer her £50m.
"If he offered that now, she'd almost kiss the ground in front of him, she's that strapped for cash."
Last November, Heather claimed on GMTV she had been suicidal. The divorce has also taken its toll on Macca, who had heart surgery in September.
The source said: "Heather knows Paul's daughters are worried about his health and how much the divorce is stressing him out. If anything they'll push Paul to give more money, to settle quickly.
"At first she had been advised to drag things out because she'd be more likely to get more money, but now she has mounting debts, she needs to settle."
