Lovely to see the sights of Orkney, and to hear Cameron chatting to Sally Magnusson. My parents never miss the show, and were impressed at me being able to tell them before it started where it was from!!

Well, speaking as an ex-member of the deadly pestilence.... ;)

(I'm assuming that excludes columnists) ;) ;)

Orkney did look gorgeous. And I liked the eco-church on Westray.

:D

Go to the BBC website and click on the video player that lets you watch again programs from the last 7 days.
Select Sunday and Afternoon. There are three pages of videos and it in there.

Well, thank you for that, Larry. I appreciate it. Another friend mentioned that option, too.

However, it turns out that such luxuries are only available if one is in the U.K.

I suppose there's a good reason for it, but my reaction to this news wouldn't quite be the sort of stuff featured on Songs of Praise.

(who knows, though, maybe some nice person could stick it up on Youtube.)

If I can find the DRM software I found some time ago I'll see if it works on the video as I should have a DRM license somewhere on this laptop for the video and the software says you only need one valid license for it to remove restrictions. Though if the Windows Media Player is too new it won't work.

The alternative is if you found a UK anonymous proxy to temporary use to go to the BBC website it'll think your in the UK and let you watch the content. Same should then work on ITV.

Looks a bit complicated and I don't know if it'll work, but worth a try if you fancy seeing some of Orkney.

Alternatively I could capture it from the Laptop onto the main PC whilst playing full screen and convert it to Divx then upload the program to one of the file sharing sites.
Youtube is being watched by some of the broadcasters and they are having videos removed.

Orkney looks a fascinating place with loads of history.
There was a Time Team program from the Islands a few years ago which was interesting.

Larry - don't go doing anything that could cause you hassle, inconveniece, or a spell in the slammer!

I've heard of those anonymous proxy things - have resisted them in the past; me and computers not a great combination. Seems a bit unfortunate, too, to be engaging in underhand activity in order to view Songs of Praise.

It's mainly sites like Youtube that you have to be careful of but there are many sites that host video but unless the link is published I don't think there is a way of searching through the files.

I still have 6 days to watch the video before the license expires so I'll capture the video output of the laptop on the main computer then convert the video file to Divx (AVI) and upload it. Then I'll post the link. Or I could PM you and anybody else who wants it the link which might be better.

Thanks to a very kind gentleman ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ , I got to see it this morning.

Great programme. Gave us a real feel for Orkney, I think. Beautiful place, lovely people.

And it's not everyday you get to hear about Big Brother on Songs of Praise. :D

Perhaps a bit harsh as regards 'the deadly pestilence'.

I feel your pain, TD...I'm sure that you only ever wrote complimentary articles (especially if they were about Italians in shorts! ::lol:: ). But joking aside, I liked what Cameron said about no matter what sort of a mess we might get ourselves into, etc..

I was just being a bit flippant gg (and Cameron) - I have never had the misfortune to be on the receiving end of the national tabloid press and I am sure they can be quite ruthless. I wasn't always complimentary at work (to my shame) - i just wanted to make the tiny point that it's not everyone who is horrible - but I don't think that was what was being implied anyway.

Glad you finally got to see the programme. I think some friends of mine are going to Orkney this year - don't know when though.

Now to more important topics - when am I going to get a review of the panto I can't come and see?? I don't think it's on iplayer? ;)
