As you can't fail to have noticed, the site looks a bit different now and there are a few new features, so we shall all be new and finding our way round together!
As you can imagine, it took ages to transport over 600,000 posts to the new forum, so apologies for the downtime yesterday and also the lack of notice, as it was a spur of the moment thing!
Some of the new features are as follows:-
1. Members will be able to report posts by clicking on the
icon.
2. The polls will allow members to choose how many answers people can give, so for example, if there are going to be 2 evicted out of 4, members can have 2 votes, rather than just the one, which will give a more accurate result. You will need to click on 'Add reply' rather than use the 'Quick reply' if you want to create a poll.
3. As a few of you have noticed, it is easy to do lots of different colour texts now! This is not available by the 'Quick reply' option.
4. Each member now has a User Control Panel (top right hand corner of forums) which contains your profile and a new Private messaging system. Private messages will now be done like a topic, so you can see the previous messages. You can also now BCC someone else in on a private message and send one message to several different people. In fact there are several changes to the private messaging system.
Also, in the user Control Panel, you can enter the usernames of your friends and it will show you when they are online.
5. You now have the ability to save a draft of a post or private message if you start it and don't get time to finish it and that will be kept in the User Control Panel.
6. Moderators will now be able to merge topics which is something we haven't been able to do before.
7. The attachment feature is back, so you can add pictures to your posts or private messages more easily. You will need to click on 'Add reply' rather than use the 'Quick reply' if you want to add an attachment.
8. There are now smilies with the quick reply which there weren't before.
9. This is not a new feature, but in case anyone has difficulty seeing which are new posts since their last visit, just click on the 'View New posts' link at the top right corner of the forums page underneath where it says Members.
10. Also, at the top of each thread, it says 'First unread post' - if you click on that, it will take you straight to the first new post since you last visited.
