Strictly Come Dancing leads the pack

Time was when people only had one channel, and the choice of entertainment was to watch that, poke a discarded tyre with a stick, or practise kissing on a stray dog. How times have changed, and this year the most fun anyone had was watching Alesha Dixon defy her cheating husband by learning the Cha Cha Cha...

Strictly Come Dancing

The most glitzy of the talent shows was a massive hit this year, thanks mainly to Alesha Dixon bringing a spot of hip urban girl band kudos to a show based on depressing tea dances during the Blitz. It lost out to big guns in 2005 (I'm a Celebrity) and 2006 (X Factor), but neither show stands in their way this time around. You go, girl!

Royal pal Guy Pelly to be in Strictly Come Dancing
By Lara Gould Tv Editor

Royal party pal Guy Pelly is in talks with BBC bosses about competing on Strictly Come Dancing.

And Guy - a close friend of princes William and Harry - has told pals he is keen to sign up for the hit show when it returns in the autumn.

A bbc source said: "No one thought it would be possible to beat last year's line up of bona fide A-list stars like Kelly Brook and Penny Lancaster.

"But having a member of the royal inner circle on the bill for 2008 would be huge trump card.

"Guy would be a guaranteed ratings winner, especially if the princes make an appearance to support their pal."

In 2005, 25-year-old Guy - a marketing manager at royal haunt Mahiki - pulled out of I'm a Celebrity amid fears he could spill royal secrets.

The source added: "Strictly won't depend on him talking about Wills and Harry. He can just let his feet do the talking."
