Viewers Angry Over Oliver Decision

The BBC is facing the anger of viewers after barring them from choosing the winning Oliver Twist in new talent series I'd Do Anything.

For the past two years, viewers have decided who became Joseph and The Sound of Music's Maria in West End roles.

I'd Do Anything will look for three young Olivers and a Nancy for the production Oliver!

But Andrew Lloyd Webber will pick the winning Olivers from a shortlist, while viewers will vote for Nancy.

A BBC spokesman said they wanted to avoid an X Factor-style criticism of youngsters.

A spokesman said: "This decision was taken in the best interest of the children."
