I'll leave my last post because I think certain points apply.

The new Kerrang!Radio listing for DJs is up on their Kerrang's website.

Kate Lawler is Kerrang!Radio's new 'Drivetime' Host which is a great opportunity for her, all said & done - she has done a fantastic job on her own on Kerrang!'s breakfast show - but where is Tim Shaw?

Well, can't say I'm surprised. They've taking Tim of the presenter list. Just looking at the site, it calls Kate the "new drivetime host".

This may mean she's getting that gig on her own. We'll wait and see, though. We'll know more when it's officially announced.

Actually having your own show may be considered better then just being a sidekick {@}

I enjoyed the "Morning after" though, so whatever, I'm a little disappointed. I do believe it was the best thing she's been involved with since she's left BB. :-(

Edit: made some of the same points as PiL, ho-hum.

Hi Rince - yes, it does sound an interesting opportunity for Kate - & Tim Shaw irritates me big time but he is still the only person who truly pushed Kate & galvanised her talent - because he knew she was special.

Don't know what happens with Tim Shaw now - he will go national at some point as I said earlier in the thread - he is talented & ambitious - but I hope that is not the end of him & Kate.

Hi :D

It will be interesting to know what Tim actually did. Was it really a case of them having to fire him, or an excuse to get rid of a "quirky" character.

James Whale was just sacked from Talksport, Tim Shaw might be a fit, who knows? A former infant terrible of radio who has controversial political views, similarities between James and Tim can be seen.

Yeah, the sacking of James Whale from TalkSport really shocked me - like him or loathe him he got the the best debates going on the 'war on terrorism' since September 11 2001.

Kelvin McKensie said Jame's Whale's sacking by TalkSport's Moz Dee was reprehensible - but it's quite clear Kate & Gordon Davidson her boss have a good relationship - whether that clashed with Kate's relationship with Tim Shaw, I don't know.

What I do know is Kerrang!Radio is in a state of flux - with Kate in the middle of it.
When Kate started 'The Morning After', Rik Shaw was presenting the Drivetime Show - he left to join XFM, London - he was replaced by Simon James & Hill - yeah, quite funny sometimes but not warm characters - who now present breakfast??

Whatever you say about Tim Shaw & Kate Lawler, they were mickey takers, but warm.

I actually managed to listen to Kate for about 20 minutes this morning for the first time! The timing of her programme is not very convenient for me to listen to usually. What time is the Drivetime Show on?

I heard the bit this morning where she said that a new survey out reckoned that breast fed children were more intelligent than bottle fed and she was getting other people in the studio to phone their Mums and ask if they were breast fed. When it came to her turn to phone her mother, she said that she reckoned she was breast fed and if she wasn't she would buy them some bacon and egg sandwiches. Her Mum said that she wasn't! It's understandable though, when you have got twins to feed!

4-7 -this will limit what gigs Kate can do Friday night(leaves some leeway for sunday pm I guess ${

Anyway on Kerrang site
PRESS RELEASE: 9th May 2008

"Tim Shaw has been dismissed from Kerrang! Radio following an investigation into an allegation received by the station.
The allegation centred around the mismanagement of one isolated competition on Kerrang! Radio where Tim Shaw was found to have breached the company's strict rules regarding competitions.
Kerrang! Radio was alerted to the incident on April 22 and Tim Shaw was immediately suspended whilst an internal investigation was carried out.
Programme Director Gordon Davidson said "We have a very open and honest relationship with our listeners and no matter who breaks that trust we have to act. After a full investigation, we have decided to terminate Tim Shaw's contract."
The station has broadcast an on air apology.
Triple Sony Award winners Simon James and Hill will host Kerrang! Radio's "Morning After" show from next week and Kate Lawler will move to the drivetime slot in the interim until a new schedule is announced.
No other member of staff was involved in the incident."

My bold. :-(

Well, realistically it was Tim Shaw who was giving the gig, then Kate came to assist. So as soon as he went, it was over, really. I wouldn't expect this interim stage to last more then a week. After all it would seem a little disloyal for her to carry on anyway.

I still would be intrigued to know exactly what he did ${

Shame, but London is a better place for her to live for the club dJing. Now she can make the most of Ibiza and whatnot.

At first Kate said she only joined Kerrang to work with Tim so it will be interesting to see whether she stays or not.She might like it now.

Rince, you make some great comments - as ever with Kate, things might be complicated.

First of all, it's pretty disgraceful that Kerrang!Radio on their messageboard in the 'General' section say Kate has moved to 'Drivetime' for an 'interim' period when she's just presented 'The Morning After' on her own for three weeks, brilliantly in my opinion.
On Kate's latest myspace blog posted during all this furore, she said she is completely knackered balancing her radio job in Birmingham with maintaining her career as a seriously considered House DJ - not to mention the fact that she's in bits about her nan & close soul-mate Reeny fighting cancer.
And God knows what Kate thought about Tim Shaw, a rebel & cynic, yes, but often Kate's biggest promoter.

It's difficult to know what's happening at this time, & what will happen - because there will be fall out.
The Kerrang!Radio messageboard is strictly edited & monitored(but still full of sh*t at times especially regarding Kate on 'The Morning After') but some comments supporting Tim Shaw are left - & let's face it, he is the only serious & talented 'personality', no matter what his faults are. Rock music is subjective; rock fans dip in to hear whatever is being played - pretentious twits who pontificate endlessly about rock music being something important make me laugh - which is another reason why Tim Shaw is an interloper - he is a 'personality' DJ - the fact that he had to play 'rock' music is immaterial to him.
Tim Shaw's a cynic who knows radio inside out; who knows how fake it all is.
That is refeshing at times but also uncomfortable - as his bosses no doubt thought.
Kerrang!Radio say Tim Shaw abused the trust of listeners for one competition - I don't know.

As for Kate, we'll see what happens on the Drivetime show.
Funny enough, during the last week of Kate's 'Morning After', Kate mentioned the fact that her boss Gordon Davidson took her out for birthday dinner & she also said she used the same gym as him - even saying on friday that an employee in the gym gave her Gordon's wedding ring/other rings because he had left them there.

We don't know what Kate's future at Kerrang!Radio is, what the bosses think of her presenting or what her loyalties are; things need to settle down.
We don't know what Kate truly thought of Tim Shaw, because he could be rude, intrusive & immature towards her with his mickey-taking at times - though obviously obsessed.
We don't know about Tim Shaw's future. The funny irony is on the day Kerrang!Radio announced his contract had been terminated Tim Shaw was on a repeat of 'Balls of Steel' last night being totally outrageous!
I don't know what is his relationship with Kate will be now, but I do know he's quite nerveless at times & does have immense talent.
If this all means he & Kate will fall out because she can't afford to burn any bridges with her bosses then so be it - but Kate will never work with someone who could be so original & talented again.
That's not to say that Tim Shaw knew it all about comedy because he didn't - his comedy was hit & miss, his 'set-ups' were too obvious at times - but unlike some others like Iain Lee he could be an absolute genius.

It sounds as though maybe Kate doesn't want to continue with the radio, as she is finding it too much for her. I wouldn't think that Kerrang want to get rid of her.

Just had a look at Tim Shaw's official site.
He has not made any detailed comment about his sacking from Kerrang!Radio - other than his usual ego saying he's been fired again; he gives a thankyou to his loyal Asylum soldiers(no mention of Morning After Listeners) & he will be back soon, though doesn't say where.

Yes well, this was the blog entry I think PiL was alluding to:

KateLawler wrote:
Getting older..... OH GOD

TIRED!!! I want to get back in to my bed! Working on breakfast radio and djing every weekend is making Katie really rather worn out... I've decided to have a competition with my boss at Kerrang! Radio too, who can lose 1 stone the quickest (eating sensibly of course) and whoever wins gets £50! Winner... If i don't lose! I can't diet though, just gave in to a giant bar of mint aero I found on my desk at Kerrang! Ooops sorry Alex... My nanny started her radio therapy for cancer this week, I am so proud of anybody who has ever had cancer or battled it like my nanny Reeny, she has such a positive attitude no matter how exhausted and poorly she gets. Wish I could see more of her and my family. London seems so far away these days...

I must admit, at the time it seemed a bit depressive/depressing {this blog was posted before Tim's firing}. The thing about losing a stone is a bit silly too, especially considering the positive vibes from Heat mag this week. She really doesn't need too, in fact she could do with putting a few more pounds on, TBH.

I think it may just be best all round if they reached amicable grounds on the rest of her contract and she moved back home. It must be quite pricey having a flat in both cities too, plus the travelling costs.

She does love the Ibiza-thing too, after all she was going to go there as a dancer before she went into BB. I'm sure if she can earn big money out there for the djing she'd love to spend more of the season in the white island, rather then being stuck in Brum on week-days. Maybe look for something new come October-ish.

Hi Rince - agree with you about Kate's obsession with being thin. :-?

Kate didn't use the opportunities she was given after BB3 to make her fortune & live life comfortably, because she knew true respect comes with career, & yes, Kate has had mixed fortunes in TV & radio - though I always make the intelligent comment about 'format' counting in the real world, ie mainstream TV, for instance...

'Celebrity Wrestling' was never going to get the high mainstream ratings 'commercial' ITV wanted on a saturday night, but the BBC's 'Strictly Come Dancing' was. Why? Because 'Strictly Come Dancing' is totally middle-of-the-road entertainment, ie the kind of show that appeals to the average family who watches Saturday Night TV.
Perfect for Kate Lawler who is a brilliant dancer & has said she's been asked?? I hope Kate knows that dozens of female 'celebrities' have & are desperate to appear on that programme! - I'm sure she does.
But as said before, appearing on rubbish like 'Love Island' probably ruined any chance of Kate appearing on a show like that. :-?

Anyway, Kate is scheduled to appear as the main presenter on Kerrang!Radio's Drivetime at 4pm - a real job?
'Interim period', probably, - we don't know yet , amongst the fall out!

Checked out Simon James for the first few minutes on 'The Morning After' this morning & even he didn't seem exactly sure what was going on with the management ie how long he & Hill would be presenting 'The Morning After'. But, I suppose they've been told certain things; they're quite conventional in a radio sense, quite funny at times, so good luck to them.
Nice of him to wish Kate & Henry luck at Drivetime - but everything seems in a state of flux.

Kerrang! DJ Tim Shaw fired in comp row

Controversial radio DJ Tim Shaw has been sacked following a complaint over a phone-in competition.

The Kerrang! DJ, 33, was said to have damaged the "open relationship" that the station has with its listeners after "mismanaging" a competition.

Shaw - who co-presented his Morning After show with Big Brother winner Kate Lawler - has been in trouble before for spraying his director's living room with obscene graffiti during a mock burglary.

Yesterday the Birmingham-based DJ vowed: "Fired again - I'll be back."
