A bit of sober reflection to all this palaver.

First of all, with all the rumours circulating about recent events regarding Tim Shaw's sacking from Kerrang!Radio's breakfast show, 'The Morning After' - some people on the internet think this might be a wind-up because this is what Tim Shaw is 'famous for'(throughout the UK's radio industry) - but the fact that the dreaded 'Ofcom' factor has been mentioned in all this more than suggests Tim Shaw's sacking is true - naughty boy.
And lets face it, under the current climate throughout the TV & radio world regarding abuse of audience phone vote competitions, ie massive fines from Ofcom, it's not surprising Kerrang!Radio took strict action.

Interestly, Tim Shaw's Wikipedia says that Tim & Kate's Kerrang!Radio show, 'The Morning After' got Kerrang!Radio's biggest audience figures - don't know if Tim Shaw logged on there to say that! ::lol:: ;) - or what is said is true. ;) :D

Anyway, with all that's happened, Kate is there as the 'Drivetime' host at the moment, 4-7pm.

It's only been two days but the 'show' is predominantly rock music tracks with Kate looking like she is only there in a caretaker role - & it looks like 'singing travel girl' Henry is only there to push the buttons - no Lucy, no nobby.
Unlike the first two hours of the 'The Morning After', the Drivetime 'show', at the moment, isn't really a 'show' at all, no structure to it - we only hear Kate after every three or four records - some new ideas are mentioned, but items from 'The Morning After' generally remain like 'I'm NOT a celebrity Get me out of here' & 'Reverse Charge'.

Kate's main priority should always be her career as seriously consided House DJ, as opposed to a 'celebrity' DJ like the ridiculed but rich Peaches Geldof who trades on her fame, etc.
What's funny is Kate as a Big Brother Winner could have been a 'celebrity' DJ, made a lot money, but Kate knew to get true respect on the House scene she needed to work hard, travel all over the UK(& abroad) playing her music.

One day, Kate will get credit & RESPECT for this.

As for Kerrang!Radio, Kate can't afford to burn her bridges. She's still under contract so when asked to sit on a radio show like the 'Drivetime', no matter how limited the format is she's given is, she should be professional & do the job to the best of her ability.

It looks like Kate's boss Gordon Davidson had tensions with Tim Shaw because of his style & attitude, but Kate should treat people as she knows them. Kate might have a good relationship with Gordon Davidson - we don't know.
Who knows? As Rince says, it looks like Kate's tenure at Kerrang!Radio is nearly over, & maybe Kate should look to move on now, but Kate will do herself no harm in the radio industry if she presents a show she's been asked to while under contract.

Kate has DJ gigs in Sweden/Latvia at the end of the month so will be away, is due for a holiday in the summer, will be in Ibiza at certain times , & hinted a few months ago that she will be in Australia at the end of the year for DJ-ing gigs - so mainstream media opportunities, though important, will not be the be-and-all for her.

Yes, well we'll have to wait and see. It is possible they want a more music-based show for drivetime.

Anyway she's in Ireland today according to her website and Christian & Loz said that was the end of her first week on Drivetime last night, so I'm not sure if she'll be there today. ${

She's going to be doing Soccer Six at Cold Blow Lane (do Millwall still play there?) on sunday with a lot of other BB stars whom I wish would disappear into hell where they truly belong.

I'm in London that day, but I reckon I won't make it to that match, slightly more important happenings at wemberlee.

Yeah, at least Kate's enthusiasm to be regarded as a 'peer' & not a BB 'celebrity', despite the fact she has lost out financiallly since BB3 in the pursuit of a credible goal, has not been diminished despite what has happened at Kerrang!Radio - her appearance at 'soccer - six' this sunday proves that, I think.
The likelihood is Kate will leave Kerrang!Radio at some point before or when her contract ends - not that she was guilty of doing anything wrong - but she should do a professionial job while she's there.

The irony is 'soccer-six' will mainly consist of guitar bands whose music is played by Kerrang!Radio. Gordon Smart from The Sun's Bizarre column has a team - & he absolutely hates Big Brother.
Hope Kate proves herself as different.

Dreadful reality tv/BB celebs will also be there as you say Rince - but Kate is an exception because she rarely attends the opening of an envelope & at least has the talent to kick a football in the right direction - she has a mean left foot - like Maradona. :D
The worst scenario is Kate, A Big Brother Winner, has to use her immense football talent & leadership skills as captain of a team of reality tv/BB losers desperate for a picture in the press. :-?

The myspace is more up to date-i guess NI was cancelled as she's not billed at Kelly's emporium at all. Also I just checked she's on air as I type.Good luck with the Grecians on Sunday-Millwall play at the new den and Kate is billed to appear but she's only ever a possible. She has a gig in London saturday night til late.

Thanks for the good wishes Vilt, no doubt we'll need it..

Clearly it was Christian & Loz's last show of the week, hence my confusion.

Not really. Kate will always be regarded as truly cool. Real Comment on the dance scene says so - as does her attitude to z-list promotion.
Kate turned down a six-figure sum from a tabloid as soon as she came out of the Big Brother house(much to John Noel's Dermot O'leary's stupid bemusement on the 'awards' show for BB3) as well as a substantial sum from FHM - Narinder's not stupid.
Kate is under contract on Kerrang!Radio & should do a professional job untill she's asked otherwise.

Yes, people like the hideous, pathethic Jade coward from BB3 & CBB5 & that other kind of ridiculously promoted 'celebrity' like, er, Peaches Geldof can get 'fame' & money. Peaches Geldof can trade on her mom & dad's fame, can get a column in The Guardian?? & even get a 'career' as a 'corporate' 'DJ' these days??
Hey, you can even go out with a 'famous' footballer & become famous & make money.

Kate Lawler is an exception because she has worked hard to establish herself as a seriously respected House DJ.
I've Never seen any single comment from Spencer from BB3 complementing Kate on her success in the Dance World. Kate has a residency in Sankeys, Manchester, voted the 17th best club in the world in a poll in DJMagazine by the world's top 100 DJs. ()^ :D

I beg your pardon, Rince! - congratulations!!! - did wonder once why you weren't so hot about Helen Chamberlain &, er, Tim Lovejoy!

Difficult to say if Tim Shaw has been good in the long or short term for Kate.

When Tim Lovejoy was on Tim & Kate's The Morning After for a second time(the first time he was the loyal BBC boy & had refused to record, 'You're listening to Tim & Kate on The Morning After'), Tim Shaw got his revenge & totally took the p!ss.

At a certain point in the interview, Tim Shaw told Tim Lovejoy he had a 'very boring voice!'(much to Tim Lovejoy's chagrin).
You just don't say things like that to a presenter who has become British TV & Radio presenting 'royalty' alongside the likes of Davina & Dermot - but Tim Shaw did!

Kate working with Tim Shaw was risky, because he could get her into trouble, but necessary I think because Kate is cynical herself regarding the media & needed pushing.

However, I think Kate could have been the balance to Tim Shaw crossing the line - she said she was the only 'woman' he listened to apart from his wife.

Kate did say in the second hour that she didn't attend 'soccer-six' - she'd been DJ-ing in London the night before(or in reality, on the same day).
Don't blame her really - Kate, as only woman capable of kicking a football, would have probably been given a couple of deadbeat reality tv women(desperate to get in the papers) to carry.

Not that forum opinion always reflects the real world but plenty of people are posting on Kerrang!Radio's messageboard angry that Tim Shaw is gone.
Personally, even for a breakfast show, he did too many set-ups - which is not good for the intelligent listener - but he is very talented & charismatic.
What was confirmed for me when Kate led The Morning After show during Tim shaw's suspension was Kate is not a natural sidekick(maybe even on problem on RI:SE) - something which Tim Shaw got very wrong, but I suppose his ego & experience meant he had to lead everything.

Kate is doing the job she's been asked to do on Drivetime - but she's only there at the moment as a link between the music. To be fair though, Kate puts plenty of enthusiasm in when she is on air.

Kate's obviously restricted in what she can say about Tim Shaw's firing but it would be fascinating to know what she really thinks about him - he has been a heavy influence on her but no doubt frustating as well.

However, as I always said during this thread, Kate & Tim Shaw, though obviously very close, could fall out - & my guess is if they did, it wouldn't be pretty - he can obviously be very juvenile & vindictive - as his relationship with Jeremy Kyle proved.

Still, it was probably a career opportunity Kate had to take.

Kate claimed it was 4."lost my kit miss".I know someone who went they said Aisleyne was pretty good-atheletic and VERY tall Nikki was frail but could kick the ball aways Grace was svelte but surprisingly unable to kick properly Sam and Amanda ponced around in kit but didn't play.Jade at least did play but was slow and rubbish and had an arse and a half that looked like it would have its own postcode. That's it for the ladeez-some brasilians (CCS?)played and won and had the best player so Michelles allstars didn't win this year.

Sounds like Kate gave a 'likely' story - more like she couldn't bear to be in the locality as the pathetic Jade Goody.

Nice to hear Aisleyne was pretty good - though Aisleyne being 'tall' is a bit strange because she did a photoshoot with Danielle Lloyd in New! Magazine before Xmas & looked very short next to her - it may have been the angle!

Kate off on holiday next week-Paris to Euro disney with nephew and then to the baltics

it's about 10x easier than brekfast-all fairly planned with just a little innovation not like Shaw's zoo when a song was an after thought. :-?
