It was good to see Ray on Chanelle wannabe popstar last night on VH1. He was shown interviewing her on the Radio, before her first live performance at a shopping centre in Ireland.

Don't know what this lazy article is suggesting, but Kate is a House DJ - not a Celebrity DJ.

Hi guys, long time no hear :D

Can I just say, I stood up for Kate in this article. I explained that I've heard her play and she is fantastic and deserves to be making a name for herself djing.

The writer (Susan Daly?)seems to have ignored what you said-guess it didn't fit into her agenda. She's given Ray a good write up though. :D

"2fm's longstanding dance guru Mr Spring, aka Tim Hannigan, says: "You don't get these guys playing spots at dance festivals, like Planetlove. It's a PA [personal appearance], a novelty. It's an affirmation night, where the 'star' gets to give the punter a pat on the head, go 'here's the tune you asked for,' command a serious fee for the night, and everyone's happy.
"There is no real crossover -- they're just not really about the music."
She hasn't researched and found that Kate did play Planetlove House stage last year.

Listen, as you even said, Vilt, Kate has written letters to the DJ magazines telling them that she's serious; she's told promoters never to use 'Big Brother' for their promotion(though some still do) - but what can she do about that?

People who have achieved 'celebrity' status via z-list promotion & luck call themselves 'DJs' for anything these days - see Peaches Geldof, etc.
Blimey, even The Daily Star Goss said Danielle Lloyd from CBB5 was a 'DJ' because she did a celebrity spot playing a few cds in a celebrity nightspot in London, a 'night' promoted by that thick & vile ex-boyfriend of the thick & vile Jade Goody, Jack whatshisname - that's how bad z-list promotion has got.

Kate could have made a fortune on the nightclub circuit as a 'celebrity' DJ - but she's different, real, & actually wants to be considered a real 'peer' - ie a House DJ - & she's absolutely knackered herself travelling everywhere in UK & abroad to prove it.
Kate's residency at Sankey, Manchester, means everything to her - & her EP has got good reviews from those who actually know.

As I've said before many times, Kate made a bad decision appearing on that garbage 'Love Island' - it set her back big time regarding her mainstream ambitions(Kate appeared Kerrang!Radio's Asylum way before), but also set back her reputation as a seriously considered House DJ. She did step up after to establish herself as credible House DJ on the dance scene - but I agreed with the columnist on DJ Magazine who, on commenting on a Kate comment where she said she wants to be treated as a seriously considered House DJ, said if she wants to be taken seriously she should never appear on reality TV rubbish like Love Island.

Strictly Come Dancing is different because that's about learning & performing a skill.

I agree with Kate on this-CLIT gave Kate the working capital to have more freedom to develop her music career and dj dates as she wants rather than be more restricted. Most live dj's have other ways of adding to their wage-sometimes it is unknown and sometimes complimentary while other times it doesn't and is just different. It was a fabulous wage for 3 weeks of easy work and a truly wacky experience.SCD was always a problem as it took out so many dj dates and I don't see why it isn't as "rubbish" as CLIT.It's just an easy and boring thing for that bloke to say.Why shouldn't Kate do different things just as why shouldn't she listen to and play different kinds of music that she likes.

Agree Vilt, though not about Love Island not being rubbish.
Even though it was interesting to watch for the viewers interested & many TV critics liked it more than BB7 - it was still a terrible 'reality TV' premise slaughtered ironically by the same TV cricics who disliked it - & Kate was always going to be attacked by the presenters on the main show & 'Aftersun'.
Those people couldn't hold a light to Kate - but Kate still put herself in a position to be attacked.
And let's face it, Annie Mac, Lisa Lashes & Ann Savage would never have appeared. Of course they wouldn't have been offered the chance but I still make a good point about Kate's 'credibility' on the dance scene.

Anyway, Kate is going to be a House DJ for the next 10 years whatever happens with her mainstream media career, so a final excursion into 'reality tv'(even though Strictly Come Dancing isn't naff reality TV) would be achievable.

Strictly Come Dancing has probably disappeared because of Kate's appearance on Love Island - but Kate did say that she would like to appear on the show when interviewed after attending the premiere of the Dirting Dancing musical a few months after Love Island - stating her mom would love to see take part.

And I see no reason why Kate couldn't combine the two - after all, she may get voted out early or if not do a DJ gig in the south-east on a saturday.
