Channel Ten evicts Big Brother

BIG BROTHER, the controversial, youth-friendly reality TV franchise, has become a casualty of television's cruellest cut - at eight years old it is too old for the Ten Network.

Nana tipped to win Big Brother
July 20, 2008 11:08pm

GRANDMOTHER Terri is tipped to become the oldest ever winner of Big Brother as Alice the vet and Travis the voice were given the chop on the penultimate night of its final series on Network Ten.

Following tonight's double eviction of animal doctor Alice and squeaky-voiced Travis, 52-year-old Terri has been tipped to beat 22-year-old brickie Rory and 19-year-old law student Ben to the title when the series concludes tomorrow night.

Betting agency Lasseters Sportsbook has the Sydney grandmother as a $1.55 favourite, despite all their best predictions.

"I've taken bets on this show since it started and I never thought a 52-year-old, Pauline Hanson-loving, supermarket worker could be favoured to win,'' Lasseters' Gerard Daffy said in a statement.
Victorian Rory is tipped to be runner-up at $3 and Western Australian Ben is the outsider at $7.

Alice, a 25-year-old vet from Victoria, who was nicknamed Mother Goose in the house for her obsessive cleaning, was the first to be evicted on tonight's double eviction show.

The keen runner came under fire in and out of the house earlier this week for refusing to trade her treadmill for fellow housemate Terri's care package from home.

Alice said it was disappointing to be voted off, but she had partly been expecting it after so many weeks of nominations.

"I'd be lying if I said (it wasn't disappointing) but after being up for so many evictions I'm pretty stoked to be here,'' she said.

The second housemate to be booted off the show was Travis, a 20-year-old marketing coordinator from NSW.

Travis, who says he is straight but saving himself for marriage, proved an enigma to most housemates at the start of the show as they tried to figure out his sexuality.

The final show will be the last ever to air on Network Ten who last week announced they were axing the program after eight years.

Why Rima boycotted the Big Brother finale

ONE small little thing was missing from this week's Big Brother finale - vertically challenged housemate Rima Hadchiti. Confidential was told the 25-year-old belly dancer from Victoria, who broke her leg during the Channel 10 show, boycotted the finale and after-party because she wasn't happy co-host Kyle Sandilands called her a "midget".

It's also believed Rima was made to feel unwelcome by the other housemates after she re-entered the BB compound.

She was not the only no-show from the Garden State on Monday night. BB intruder and occasional rock singer Michael Crafter, 27, also turned down the invitation.

Not that it spoilt the party, from which the media was banned but Confidential managed to gatecrash.

With the bubbly and beer flowing, BB winner "Nana" Terri Munro and fellow housemate Dixie Crawford were spotted riding toy ponies around the party room at the Surfers Paradise Marriott.

Runner-up Rory Ammon spent most of the night cosying up to his in-house love interest Rhianna Baxter while housemates Alice Redwood and squeaky-voiced Travis Gilyana cut a rug on the dance floor.

Accompanied by his dad, party pest Corey Worthington was on his best behaviour.

Co-host Jackie O was spied having a deep and meaningful chat with contestant and 27-year-old virgin Nathan Strempel.

But we're told he was just getting some advice on pursuing that well-worn career path for ex-reality TV stars - radio.

Terri's going under the knife

Basking in the glow of her newfound public profile, BB winner Terri yesterday revealed she wants to spend her $250,000 winnings on sprucing up her face.

After surviving repeated knives in the back throughout the last series of BB, the 52-year-old grandmother will go under the surgeon's knife in a bid to freshen her appearance.

"I looked at myself on the telly chewing and I thought I looked awful," Munro said.

"So I thought I might as well buy myself a facelift, but nothing too drastic."
