He's some guy, isn't he? I'm enjoying having Michael Johnson & Colin Jackson comment on 'all that stuff', too.

I think the gold for commentary should go to the chap cheering on the British men's rowing coxless four... poor chap was hoarse with excitement.

And what a swim for Rebecca Adlington? That's way better than anything Phelps has done. Similarly the cycling Men's Team Sprint had a truly thrilling, if short qualifier which produced another gold.

We might sometime be mediocre as a sporting nation but when we're good, we're very very good. ()^

Another gong...

That's now 8 for GBR with hopefully another on the way (awaiting some wind in Qingdao).

Poor Ben Ainsley.... sat waiting for his Gold Medal. First there's too much wind and then not the right sort of wind. The Finn Class sailing has been on, postponed, off, on and counting down and now delayed again.

Current status: Awaiting realignment of course to prevailing wind direction.

Current status / 7:45am. Race delayed, boats being removed from the water :-?

Current status / 8:50am: Counting down to the race starting.

And they're away (as last). Ben is guaranteed Gold provided he finishes no lower than 4 behind the American man. At the moment our man is in front of him.

Not naming the sports in case you haven't watched yet but its been a good morning/afternoon for Britain.

Although it won't last... but currently we're third in the table, just behind China and the USA in the numbers of Golds won.

I've always preferred the metal silver to gold.

Yes, a mighty fine weekend for the British team, although its a shame we really don't seem to have many in the track/field sports.

I think there are still some Beach volleyball matches to occur :D

Calrissian: has no medals. :-(

me too.

glad we're doing well at the moment.

was at the gym tonight and discovered they're doing a pretend olympics thing which has appeared since I was there last Sunday... however to get the medals you don't have to do a great deal ${ for a gold in swimming all you need to do is swim 500 metres... easy peasy!

hope you've all had a good week

Feels like Christmas here now, just without the wrapping paper and turkey basting.

Got up before 6, as the infamous CAO First Round Offers(for entry to third level education in Ireland) went online at 6.00 a.m. Elder daughter got offered her first choice - and will therefore be starting Uni next month.

To say this is 'unexpected' would be an understatement. :)
