Johnny Doom is a Big Brother addict who informs Kate of BB goings on which Kate hasn't got the time to see.
Rex & Belinda are up for public vote, etc. - Kate did know that though!

Kate's impression of Sara re her Austalian accent & the things Sara's said in the Big Brother House were amazingly spot on.
It was no 'cod' attempt, a bit like Kate's impression of Alexandra the other week.

Kate and Kerrang helped launch a Teenage Cancer trust appeal on Thursday.Apparently the first event is at Selfridges for a marathon bike ride.Alison came too-and Claire from the App.

DJ Kate Lawler and fellow Kerrang! Radio presenters were out in force today (Thursday 24 July) to launch Teenage Cancer Trust’s £1million appeal for state-of-the-art cancer facilities for teenagers and young people from across the West Midlands.
The national charity, which helps teenagers fight cancer, is expanding into the West Midlands and is planning to develop a number of specialist facilities in the region. These will provide teenage cancer patients from the West Midlands with some of the best facilities and options in the country.
Kate Lawler said, “Teenage Cancer Trust units make such a difference to the lives of teenagers with cancer and it’s so exciting that young people in the West Midlands will now have access to these first-class facilities.”

Sophie Ellis Bextor to headline at Manchester Pride

The organisers of Manchester's Big Weekend celebrations have announced that multi-platinum selling singer songwriter Sophie Ellis Bextor will perform at this year's event.

Danish pop sensation Alphabeat and former M People lead singer Heather Small will also wow the crowds at Manchester Pride’s 18th birthday Big Weekend celebrations this August Bank Holiday weekend.

They will be joined by Sankey’s resident DJ Kate Lawler, house music legend Angie Brown, former Atomic Kitten Natasha Hamilton, Jonathan Ross' 4 Poofs & Piano, house music act K-Klass, electro-group Client and X Factor finalist and former Happy Monday’s backing singer Rowetta Satchell.

"We’re delighted with the main stage line-up this year," said Andrew Stokes, chairman of Manchester Pride.

"We’ve got a great mix of artists covering everything from current chart toppers to camp classics.

"We’re also still hoping to sign a couple more headline artists before the weekend itself so keep an eye out for more news from Manchester Pride HQ."

The Big Weekend takes place from Friday 22nd until Monday 25th August.

As I've said before, Kate could have used her relatively high profile & status as Big Brother winner to become a 'celebrity' DJ, made herself far more money - but Kate, because she's different, chose to worked hard to achieve her goals. That's where true credibilty is due.
I mean, does anybody actually intelligent think Coleen who is only famous because she goes out with the most famous footballer in England is a DJ??

Kate has just cancelled her Slovenia gig this weekend - next gig, Dubai on 14/08/08.

Personally, I don't think you should cancel gigs without good reason - Kate's appearance on rubbish like Love Island 2 springs to mind.

But this weekend there is a massive charity Kerrang!Radio fundraiser in aid of The Teenage Cancer Trust where Kerrang!Radio DJs including Kate are going to be cycling 5000+ miles to Beijing - on, er, stationary bicycles in Birmingham's Selfridges. It's part of a massive plan to build a cancer unit for teenagers in Birmingham.

Tim Shaw is the new presenter of Channel 5's Fifth Gear next week - Monday - 11/08/08 - 8pm.

Not surprised really - I said he'd go national - & his passions are cars & engineering.
He's got a 1st in some kind of mechanical engineering.

Despite his obsession with destroying radio & being sacked by every radio station he's ever worked for - a fact he was never slow to tell Kate about - we know he's incredibly talented & can present radio or TV standing on his head.

Mind you, Fifth Gear will be far removed from his disgraceful & totally outrageous alter-ego 'Mr Inappropriate' on Channel 4's Balls of Steel.
But then again, I did warn he was a nutcase on Kerrang!Radio's The Asylum.
Funny how it was Kate who struck a chord with him long before she started at Kerrang!Radio - something to do with true charisma, I think.
Despite his irritations & he doesn't know it all about comedy, he is very intelligent, & told Kate a few things that could be to her benefit - & Kate advised him as well.

I wonder if his pre-recording for Fifth Gear started more or less when he left Kerrang!Radio because his exit has never properly been explained.
Mind you, Ofcom were involved - didn't stop him getting another plum job though.

Kate away now for two weeks-first week looks genuine holiday and second week working in Ibiza.She seems to be getting more integrated with the station and they love to have her around but she was an expensive hire for the headline show so I'm wondering what will happen when the year is up.Her details (with picture)have become much more prominent on the home page of the website recently.

Picking up from Kate's blog thread-there was a one-off 2 hour show with Oliver Borg last Sunday.
This show is on the usual site but its the last hour of Dan's Lazy sunday(4-5) and the first hour of Live with Hywel(5-6).Probably not that an earth-shaking show anyways.

Yeah, I wouldn't of realised about the other show without the blog. It's an interesting possible partnership, I'd of thought. More along the lines of a Tim Shaw type relationship.

Damn, I missed that.

Though I noticed Kerrang!Radio's comments for the Drivetime slot for Kate was changed from 'lovely' Kate Lawler to 'awesome' Kate Lawler.

Rock music is played continuously throughout Drivetime, more than other headline timeslots, which means it isn't really a 'show', but Kate always puts in incredible effort when she is on air. She is the clear leader & hardly ever refers to Lucy, who is Kate's main fellow socialiser in Birmingham, & Henry who is the wannabe DJ pup on the station.
It does look like Kerrang!Radio wanted the Drivetime 'show' this way & everything is done by clockwork. I think Kate has been brilliant & has done her best ever broadcasting as leader on Drivetime.
However, I think it would be better if Drivetime had a more linear feel to it.

Tim Shaw is a radio nutcase who bizarrely, despite his intelligence & even genius at times, does overkill for his comic ideas.
There was a rumour after he was sacked that Kerrang!Radio still wanted Kate as their breakfast presenter & were looking for a suitable co-presenter.

Don't know how good Oliver Borg was, but A MASSIVE note of caution: as I've said previously on this thread regarding Tim Shaw's relationship with Kate on 'The Morning After' & Kate's sometimes poor performance on RI:SE, Kate is not a natural sidekick - she's always been the leader of her friends, & within a relationship.

From what Kate has said, the first part of her holiday is in Italy for a best friend's wedding - she gave the details of the hen night a few weeks ago in her Sunday Mercury blog - & the second part is holiday & work in Ibiza, including a truly credible DJ slot at Privilege.

Kate's boss at Kerrang!Radio, Gordon Davidson, obviously thinks highly of Kate & by the sound of things disliked Tim Shaw for his style & abrasive attitude - ie the complaints from agencies supplying the guests for Tim Shaw must had got tiresome.
We'll have to wait & see if Kate stays another year.

The line-up for this year's Strictly Come Dancing has been announced - usual BBC people whether they be presenters or soap actors - but if Kate's ever asked again, she should consider it.
Appearing on Love Island was a terrible decision which ruined Kate's chances, I fear.

I've got mixed feelings about Tim Shaw: he is obviously obsessed with Kate & a brilliant talent when he wants to be - but to treat Kate as a mere sidekick & want Kate to sit back & admire how good he is was completely stupid.
However, seen a bit of Tim Shaw on Channel 5's Fifth Gear - & you know he's in another world to Iain Lee.

Kate Lawler - interview

Kate Lawler was the first female winner of Big Brother back in 2002 and since then she has become a very busy person presenting TV and radio shows and modelling.

With her feet still firmly on the ground Kate still goes to the same bars and has the same friends so we caught up with her to see how she prepared to go into the house.

How did your family react when you told them you were going to be on Big Brother?
My sisters cried, my little brother called me a mug, my mum said ‘oh I don’t know if I like the idea’ and my dad said ‘you’ll win it….’

How did you prepare for the series?
I didn’t mentally I just went out and bought lots of new bikini’s and clothes. Not having watched the series before, I thought it would be a good idea to watch the DVD’s of BB1 & BB2 to get an idea of what I was letting myself in for.

What was going through your mind just before you made your entrance?
I hope I don’t open this door for another 9 weeks. I went in to win the £70,000 and really didn’t want to leave the BB House before the 9 weeks was up.

What were your best and worst moments in the house?
My best moments included the funny times I shared with Jonny, Alison, PJ and Spencer, the night Johnny, Spencer and I covered ourselves in blankets and sneaked through the divide from poor side to rich side and stole chocolate from the rich. Then we got caught.

Also all the nights we got drunk and whenever it was someone’s birthday we always had a party, the school disco and the 70’s roller disco really stand out for me.

And the moment Davina told me I’d won….

How has your life changed since the series?
I no longer work in an investment bank, I’ve had the opportunity to work in some really cool TV shows and now present Drive on Kerrang! Radio which I love doing and have also put my winnings towards buying my own flat and paying off my parents mortgage.

I still have the same group of friends and still see my family as often as I can. I even go to the same bars, restaurants and holidays as I used to.

I wouldn’t say my life has changed immensely but I feel I am a lot more privileged than I was before 2002 and I can only thank the British public who voted for me to win….

Kate's THE Ibiza DJ this week - hope she gets some credit in the DJ mags in the future because she is talented, despite the low opinion of BB.

As for Kerrang!Radio, Kate is back next week - & a new contract would be a nice little victory for her.

Kate's always been career-minded & has always wanted to work in radio - as she said in BB3's book.

Kate's probably lost out on £500K-£1000,000 because of her career ambitions.
Kate could have made a fortune as a promoted z-list celeb like Jade Goody, Chantelle & the rest - but she's different.

Btw Rince - don't know if you've watched a single minute of BB9 - but you could be right: Mikey, the blind bloke, is favourite to win!

A 'pc' vote is more than partly responsible, but the underwhelming finalists & evicted housemates, though entertaining at times - & believe me, this has been a good series - are responsible for this.
Mikey does have a few good points though.
Lisa should have won - but that's just me.

I see Tim Shaw has been signed up by Virgin (now know as Absolute). I guess we'll never know what he did to get fired

Mind you, he always moaned about money regarding his mortgage in Birmingham so he will moan even more in London, even though he's lived & worked in the south-east before.

Tim Shaw may well have acted like a lunatic on Channel 4's Balls of Steel but it isn't surprising to see him presenting a conventional motoring show like Channel 5's Fifth Gear.

However, Tim Shaw is obsessed with radio, even though he seems hell-bent on destroying it!
Surely he'll be late night like Kerrang! Radio's Asylum where he can behave the way he wants to.

Iain Lee built up a late night cult audience on Virgin Radio with his irreverent style & derivative comic abuse against callers - wonder if they want Tim Shaw to do the same?
They won't know what's hit them if that is the case.

Funny really - Tim Shaw & Iain Lee are both middle-class boys trying to be funny. And funny that they both detest Chris Moyles who happened to be Kate Lawler's biggest fan on BB3.

Though Tim Shaw beats Iain Lee hands down in terms of bottle.

Anyway, Kate's back on Kerrang!Radio today - at a time when radio contracts have been, or will be renegotiated.

Interesting times.
Especially when you consider that the only things most BB housemates are desperate for, apart from Kate & a few others, is z-list hype.

Kate is doing the Morning Show again 7-10 this week as the usual SimonandHill are on holidays.(ie not doing the afternoon drivetime)Lucy back from holiday in Oz at last as well.Some of Kate's favourites having an outing for the morning-I'm a celeb and reverse charge and henri joining her.Playing Porkn Beans and Sex on fire all the time.
