Today I got new pink shoes to wear on holiday  Actually, I bought quite a lot of new things to go on holiday thinking about it but the pink shoes are the most exciting as they're a bit sparkly too!!!

Today I bought / ordered a new bike.
A Trax Mountain Edge Mountain bike with 21 gears and full suspension.
I started the day assembling the Raleigh Concept 2000 Blade Bike I'd been given to see how much work was needed to get it road worthy and by the time I'd got 9 items on my list I decided to buy a new one and sell the two I've got now.
Really the Raleigh wasn't beyond repair and you could get away with a chain ,Derailleurs ,and 3 cables but there were other bits I wanted to change as well.

The new bike will have to have road tyres fitted which will be Continental Contact which may well come off the road-worthy bike along with the lights ,seat ,pump etc. I'll have to put the high pressure tubes in this time and find a pressure gauge that works with this type of valve. The current tubes use the same valve as a car tyre so I have a digital gauge that I use but they do leak slightly at 45PSI so you have to top the tyres up once a week.

Anyway with the state of the roads around here the suspension should make the journeys a lot more comfortable. And as it looks like this wet and windy weather is here to stay I'll have to brave the elements and get really fit again.
I used to cycle 11 miles a day into work 20+ years ago using a racing bike for 3 years in all weathers and became extremely fit. The bike landed up with race grade components after a while as my legs became so strong I could snap a chain pulling off at traffic lights ! But the whole gear train had to be upgraded not just the chain. But this was a long time ago. Still as you all know I don't do so bad even these days taking things much easier than back in those days.

Today I got my car back after a week of the garage I bought from trying to find the poor running and the appearance of the Engine Management light lighting. In the end they gave up and took it to the main Vauxhall dealer who fixed in a matter of hours !

Drives like a totally different car now :)

Today the new bike arrived so tonight I spent a couple of hours taking the old bike to bits to transfer those bits onto the new one.

The bike is even better than the description in the advert. It's an alloy frame and wheels with disc brakes all round .

So far I've changed the tyres and tube between bikes. I've also changed the seat to the Gel one off the old bike. I've also transferred the lights and computer though I still need to fit the sensor and magnet for the computer. And I've fitted the pump.

I still need to fit the bell as the thing that was fitted was next to useless. And the water bottle.

Looks like one of the valves in one of the new tubes has failed as when I was part way through pumping up the tyre on one of the old wheels (now fitted with the new tyre and tube) there was a sudden rush of air back out of the pump and it went flat and isn't holding air any more. And looking in the puncture repair kit it does have the key for the valve or the rubber tubing that repair kits used to have to fix the valves.

Wednesday night I hope to be able to go for a ride on it.

Today had third day back at school and it has been absolutely mad!! 6 weeks off in one go is far too much for them.

Tonight I became photographer at the slimming class my mother attends. They had their annual woman of the year contest but when it came to the pictures afterwards the camera stopped working so I was asked to take the pictures with my camera phone.

Today managed to lose a child's socks in the ball pool at school  ::lol::

Well technically he took them off but I couldn't find them at all, thankfully we have lots of spares!
