REX AND DARNELL FACE AXE

FURIOUS fans have turned on Big Brother bosses for fixing the show by not booting out Darnell Swallow and Rex Newmark for bullying Sara Folino.

Telly watchdog Ofcom have launched an official investigation after more than 1,500 fans complained, criticising the show’s bosses for not axing the two lads.

They claim the verbal attack in which Sara, 27, was quizzed about her sex life, told to flash her breasts and branded a “****” and an “ugly bitch”, amounts to sexual abuse.

And they are baffled as to why Darnell, 26, and Rex, 24, are still on the show when former housemates Alex De-Gale, 23, and Dennis McHugh, 23, were both removed when their behaviour was deemed “unacceptable”.

Yesterday, Big Brother called them both into the diary room where they were issued with official warnings.

Viewer Gaye Denyer, from Wiltshire, stormed: “I am outraged that Channel 4 have appeared to condone this behaviour by not pulling them out.

“It is an absolute disgrace. If that sort of talk happened in the workplace, Darnell and Rex would find themselves in court. I am a fan of the show, but this time they have gone too far.”

One of hundreds of text messages sent to our newsdesk from angry fans read: “Rex and Darnell r vile. Rachel humiliated and Sara vilified, bullied and abused.

“Rex eggs Darnell on. They r a nasty pair who seem 2 hate women. Channel 4 should remove them b4 the final.”

A spokeswoman for Ofcom said they had received more than 1,500 complaints and the calls were still coming in.

Darnell, who started giving Sara grief after she rejected his advances and admitted she fancied Stu, tried to defend his actions to BB.

He said: “I feel like she represents basically how my life on the outside world goes with women.

“I got annoyed or whatever, obviously she knows that I don’t think that she is an ugly bitch.

“Everything I say to her goes in one ear and out the other, unless it’s something like negative, then that has to be something that’s set in stone. I think that’s what I was miffed about.”

Later, Rex added: “Sara knows I’m only playing with her, I made it very clear. I hate bullies, I would never bully someone.”

A Channel 4 spokesman said: “Big Brother will take appropriate action where unacceptable behaviour, including bullying, can lead to offence.

“Rex has apologised to Sara, and Darnell understands that his behaviour was not acceptable.”

This is not the first time this series has been hit with an official Ofcom investigation.

More than 1,500 people logged their concerns about bully Alex De-Gale, and mouthy Scot Dennis McHugh faced a police investigation after spitting in Mohamed’s face.

Darnell should have been booted, I agree. Rex is debatable. Sara has said repeatedly that she knows Rex is joking and doesn't take it seriously. She has no such assurances about Darnell's behaviour, and in fact has stated categorically that she knows he wasn't joking. Darnell has showed absolutely no remorse for his actions other than for how they have affected him and how he is perceived on the outside. His pathetic, self-serving justifications for his behaviour were nothing but the mewlings of an egotistical social inadequate blaming the entire world for the insufficiencies of his life and personality.

But hey, at least Darnell never has to worry about having a girlfriend because I can't imagine any woman going within sniffing distance of him ever again.

Bunny, you have described Darnell spot on...

Lets face it ok so he has a problem with his sight but I'd hardly call his skin colour a disability ... I dont doubt perhaps he's had a rough time but that seems to be his own doing, the bloke is nothing but a self obsessive, insecure, creep... He wasnt only picking on Sara, he was also horrible to Kat for being nice to Sara he's of the opinion I dont like her so you cant be my friend if you do, typical playground behaviour!

Why is Mo being let off. I thought him mocking her about crying in the DR was horrible.

He obviously understood why she might be upset and crying yet was intent on bullying her for daring to be upset, then when she showed her steel he fell back in with the other bullies and started to attack her again.

None of them have shown any remorse, in Rexs case he has several times verbally accused Sara for making it an issue with BB and Darnel is doing the same behind her back.

The only one taken it seriously is Bunny, John, the rest of us are pretending to care just to humour him. {@}

BB gives Rex and Darnell ANOTHER warning about bullying:

Big Brother have come down hard on Darnell and Rex, after Ofcom received over 1500 complaints about their bullying behaviour towards Sara. On last night's show you watched BB call both boys to the Diary Room and tell them off – but since then they have been issued with a stark warning: bully again, and you're out. Viewers complained in their hundreds after watching Tuesday night's show, where Sara broke down in tears after being teased by Rex and bullied by Darnell, who called her an "ugly bitch" and a "****". It's the largest number of complaints received since the infamous Shilpa Shetty incident on Celebrity Big Brother last January. Rex denied that he had bullied the Aussie, telling BB, "I hate bullies. I would never bully someone." Hmmm, we think Rex needs to realise the difference between what's funny and what's just plain mean. Darnell even admitted to Kat and Rachel last night that he only picked on Sara because she had rejected him, saying he wanted to "hurt her back". Nice. Darnell and Sara eventually agreed to be "civil" to each other last night, after yet another argument, but she's definitely forgiven Rex – she didn't even nominate him last night! Plus, we bet Sara isn't too worried about two silly boys and their silly bullying anymore – she's waking up £25,000 richer this morning!

Neither of them should be booted... while I don't condone what they have been doing, there's a natural justice at play here in that they will both be punished by the viewing public.

Big Brother is designed to produce these types of confrontations and that's why I wondered why the hell people were taking it so seriously? Come on, honestly, next year people will be phoning OFCOM because all the housemates ganged up on another and nominated them! Doh!

Sara isn't entirely blameless here either... although to her credit she hasn't made a huge deal out of it. As for Darnell, he is a confusing character anyway (even to himself) and Sara admits freely that she doesn't understand him or his motives. Does anyone? Rex is much worse because while he's clearly just making mischief, he IS doing it deliberately and with purpose.

Big Brother was right to yank on their leads and remind both of them that perhaps they were going too far... but otherwise, its just a part of the game and is nothing like the tirades we've all witnessed from HMs in the past; Alex and Charley being just two examples.

Hi Christine - and assembled gang

Sorry I ducked out for a few days, I was away on a mission (all hush hush you understand).

Alan last seen headed off to chase mice in the BB3 Forum... nothing from him since. I hope he's okay?

Mind you, strange how he was late joining us this year... around the time Mario was evicted (if memory serves) and how odd that he goes to ground again just as Mario reappears on our screens?
Mmmm I wonder

;)

Is Alan a teacher in Scotland, perhaps? Which could explain him appearing just as the Scottish schools got their summer hols and disappearing once they went back, lol.

If I'm right, he's obviously got more self-discipline and dedication to his job than I have, though I was too tired to turn the computer on for the four days I worked last week. And when the kids get back tomorrow I may be too busy to look at forums. :-(

Yes I think he maybe a teacher in Scotland actually. He must be very dedicated to his job, if that is the case.
