A chef who once worked at Burger King has won top cookery challenge programme Masterchef: The Professionals.Scot Derek Johnstone, 25, beat 26 other chefs to the title on the BBC Two show. In the final stage of the four-week challenge he and the remaining two chefs had to cook their best three-course meal for 30 of the best chefs in Europe and three former Michelin inspectors.
Mr Johnstone, from Erskine, Renfrewshire, was then crowned the winner by judges and presenters Gregg Wallace and Michel Roux Jnr.
After winning the title Michel Roux Jnr offered him a position working at his restaurant
Le Gavroche in London, and he starts the new job in October.
