Hello again ...

These last two weeks have flown by. It's scary how quick this year has gone!

Sunday September 14th



After a messy night in Belfast djing and partying I wake up to my friend Jill saying: 'Kate ... Kate... Your flight home has been cancelled!'

Great.... Just what I need, I've got to get back today because Kerrang! Radio is at Birmingham Artsfest and I need to introduce The Levellers on stage.

'What does that mean then?' I asked Jill.

'Well I've managed to book you on another flight but it leaves in two hours so we need to go now,' she told me.

Winner - I'd had about two hours sleep and looked like I'd been dug up from Hell...

After a quick shower and a full English I didn't feel too bad and flew back to Birmingham, arriving just in time to see some really cool bands and do my bit.

After that a load of us from Kerrang! went to The Rainbow beach party in Birmingham which was really good fun, although i ended up drinking too much.

The next thing I knew, I woke up fully clothed, trainers and jacket on, phone in my hand, laying on top of my bed.

Time check - 3:30am. Head check - ouch.... hangover pending.

Tuesday September 16th


The last two days haven't been that pleasant due to a horrible incident that happened in the building where I live in Birmingham.

Two girls were found murdered in the flat two floors above mine.

It's tragic. They were sisters, I can't imagine what their parents must be going through - I have two sisters.

I'm on my way down to London for a couple of days to get away from it all.

Wednesday September 17th

Ouch... my head hurts. I roll over and stare at an almost empty bottle of vodka sitting four inches away from my face on my bedside table.

Why!? Why do I always have to drink one too many?

I never drink during the week. I like to save it for the weekends but I had a date last night and I was really nervous. I had a really good time, though.

Athough I was drunk and completely passed out when I got home, it looks like I'll be seeing him again

Oh sh*t, just realised the time I'm supposed to be at the Bauer Radio Awards in Central London. One hour from now.

I've never got ready so quickly in all my life! Shower, make-up, hair? Scraped back, pretending to go for the messy look when really my hair is just... messy.

Taxi - Train - Taxi again and I make it just in time for the awards which begin at midday. Everyone from Kerrang! Radio is there, looking very
glamorous.

As the day went by, I watched them all drink more and more wine and around 7:45pm we all boarded a train back to Birmingham! The noisiest and funniest train journey I've had in a while.

Went to see Scars on Broadway at the Academy later that evening. Wow! Amazing band. I love them!

Sunday September 21st

I'm absolutely shattered. Wake up Saturday morning at 2:30am, drive two hours to Heathrow.

Arrive at 4am, board a flight to Copenhagen at 6am, land and wait for rwo hours for a flight to Lithuania. Finally get to Lithuania at 2pm Saturday.

The promoters of the club I'm djing at tonight pick me up and take me for a huge slap-up meal. Yummy! I had three courses and then slept in my
hotel for four hours. My DJ set was at 1am and we left the club at 10am.

I have two hours sleep then a three-hour drive to another airport where I fly to Stockholm. then back to London Heathrow. Finally the
drive home which I somehow managed to do without falling asleep.

Longest journey ever! Completely worth it though. Global Club in Lithuania rocked - I can't wait to go back and DJ there.

Tuesday September 23rd

Had lots of friends round this evening. My friend cooked home-made burgers and we ate lots of chocolate cake for my friend Sarah's birthday while watching repeats of America's Next Top Model - the new season has started and it's got me hooked already!

Love that programme!

We also watched 'The Family' on channel 4 - hilarious.

OK, it's 1am, I've just finished tidying up the flat.

Best get an early night - I'm viewing a flat tomorrow, where I've decided to move in with my friend.

EXCITING!

Seems very busy. Kate's oddly not mentioned her radio show for Vonyc sessions, some kind of dance central european thingamijig, called ominously "Kate Lawler and friends", which she's doing monthly. Can't find a link where you can listen to it, sorry.

In other news there's some vids you can see of her djing on her myspace now.

In even otherer news, she's doing the Kerrang breakfast show for a while from tomorrow, which should take her through well into October, which presumably means she's signed a new contract with Kerrang

It sounds as though those headbangers at Kerrang are leading our liteweight dancehouse dj astray.

Sounds like the other way round to me!
Don't worry about Kate - she observes everything.

Mind you, that Christian who follows Kate on Drivetime sounds a bit crazy - Kate keeps making innuendo about Christian & Loz knowing each other in a Biblical sense!

Too much to mention, perhaps? - I'm sure Kate will use her myspace to post anything important regarding her House DJ career.

Yeah, Kate's covering Kerrang! Radio's Breakfast show next week which does mean she will have worked for Kerrang! Radio for over a year.
Assuming the original contract she signed was for a year, it's clear that at least an extension has been signed.

I said not to underestimate Kate.

Kate is an immeasurably better leader of a radio show than she is a sidekick.

Something Kerrang! Radio no doubt know.

I wonder if she is moving in with her new boyfriend?

Could be.
The Daily Star & The Sun ran stories about the horrific incident that happened - with the angle that Kate lived in the same block.
It obviously affected Kate.
On the day the incident happened, Kate said on Kerrang! Radio she had a 'date' that night - but her Sunday Mercury blog says she was in London for the date.
Kate said she returned to London; that was true, because she attended a radio awards ceremony there the day after, before getting the train back to Birmingham where a rather drunk Kerrang! Radio crew attended the Scars on Broadway gig at The Academy in Birmingham.
Kate mentioned this on her Drivetime show last week - though did not mention she was in London.
On Friday's breakfast show yesterday, Kate did mention that she went on a dinner date to a pub in Derbyshire the night before.

It is entirely understandable that Kerrang! Radio gave Kate some time off because of what happened where she lives.

Kate could be very coy & have a companion in Birmingham, though.

Possibly, but I don't think she'd even gone on her second date, by then. So it would be quick work if that is the case

I agree with what PiL said really, it is a possibility the unfortunate happening in her block (which was rather terribly reported by the gutter press IMO, I'll say no more, TBH) may have caused her to move so quickly.

The likelihood is Kate was a bit freaked out by what happened where she lives & wants to live with a female colleage/friend in Birmingham.
You can hardly blame her for that.

Sounds like Kate is seeing someone though - but doesn't want to say too much.

It's been a bit longer for some reason, maybe she just wanted to get the plug in for the revamped show just as it was starting.

Thursday 2nd October: just had laser hair removal on my bikini line - ouch! But worth it.... More pain at the gym with Wayne then I went home and gave myself a san tropez tan after work.

Friday 3rd October: Had my hair died today - bleach blonde.... Looks in good condition seeing as its had so much colour on. Did my drive time radio show on Kerrang! and headed down to London where I met my best friend in Fulham for a quick drink before having a dinner date at a gorgeous Thai restaurant called The Blue Elephant. I drank half a bottle of champagne and ate yummy food it was a lovely evening.

Saturday 4th October: Spent all day in the studio putting together my 1st ever compilation to be released on Toolroom Records. I'll let you know when you can buy it on i-tunes soon. In the evening I went back to my old school after 10 years to perform a comedy sketch by Victoria Wood called 'Fatitude' to help raise money for cancer research.

My old drama teacher Bridge has recently found out she has breast cancer, so to help raise money for such an important charity she invited past students from the school to come back and perform songs, acts, and dance performances. It was a fantastic evening, my nanny has cancer it is a charity very close to my heart and we managed to raise over £7000! Straight after the charity event I drove up to Birmingham where I was djing at Q Club.

Friday 10th October: After a busy week working every day at Kerrang! and going to the gym 3 times instead of 2 times (very proud of myself) I went and picked up my friend from the airport and we flew to Belfast where I was djing at a club called Scratch. Only just made the flight! Got back very late and went to bed about 4am.

Saturday 11th October: Slept for ages and didn't leave the hotel in Belfastuntil 2pm! Refreshed and revitalised, I went for lunch with Jill - she looks after all my djing in Ireland and Northern Ireland then flew back to Birmingham. I picked up my best friend Skin and she made me watch The X Factor until it was time to go out for dinner.

Went to a gorgeous restaurant in Brindley Place called Cielo. The most amazing Italian meal I've ever had in my life! I thought all the best restaurants were in London! Italian is my favourite though so I'm probably being biased. Was so nice having an early night for once on a Saturday!

Sunday 12th October: Went for breakfast then to The Bullring in Birminghamfor a coffee before seeing Skin off on the train back to London. Met Bradley my new flat-mate and we went to Ikea to look at furniture for the new flat that we are going to be moving in to in a couple of weeks. Got all excited walking round Ikea I loved it. Went to Penny Blacks for Sunday roast It was yummy - had bread and butter pudding for dessert too, I've eaten so much this weekend!

Wednesday 15th October: Did the hardest session at the gym this morning. Wayne says my arms are starting to look like Madonna's! Woo woo exciting. I'm thinking of learning to snowboard. It's something I've always thought I'd be rubbish at but there is a snowdome not far from Birmingham so I may go and have lessons too..

Don't forget as of Monday 20th October - I'll be joined by the lovely OJ Borg on my Kerrang! Radio Drive Time Show. You can listen from 4pm - 7pm Monday to Friday on 105.2fm in the West Midlands and nationally on DAB, and sky channel 0183. OJ is lovely, he's funny and entertaining and I'm really excited to have him join me on Drive. And my 'Bond Girl' shoot is out in Closer magazine Tuesday 21st October - I was sprayed gold !

Is Bradley male or female I wonder? It sounds male to me. Perhaps she wants to live with a bloke for protection.

Kate made a point of saying she was single last week-there was a game where you rubbish your current partner or ex on some point and she rubbished an ex-because "I don't have anyone at the moment"I reckon Bradley is a gay dude.

Don't really know about why Kate moved or if she has a boyfriend. She did state she was single, but then I've known her do that when she has been in a relationship....

As for the radio, she's definitely still the number one on the show, at the moment and OJ is more the sidekick. It's actually not that much different then before. I just think they may have wanted a "local" voice in. Kerrang has gained listeners in the last quater nationally, but lost out in the west Midlands.

Could all change though, I suppose, may just be early days.

It does sound more than a coincidence that Kate has changed her dwelling very soon after that dreadful incident that occurred in her block - but you can't blame her.

Kate's close friend, Bradley, is 100% Gay! - In fact it could be argued that he's not gay at all. Kate let it slip a few months ago that her friend, 'Bradley', had had the 'operation'.
Can't wait for The Daily Star headline: 'Kate Lawler lives with transexual!' - er, so what?
So I probably was right - Kate is living with a female friend!

It's only been two weeks, so too early really to comment on the new Drivetime show with Kate & OJ.

However, regarding OJ Borg; he clearly loves himself, fancies leading the show, he's already doing 'prank' phonecalls - though that idea was obviously restricted with the furore of Jonathan Ross' & Russell Brand's press last week.

OJ Borg hails from Leicester, but he has that neutral media accent(Jeremy Kyle? ) - & he ain't no rock DJ - but then again, he's been put there with Kate to be a 'personality' DJ.

As for Kate, she's led the Drivetime show for five months so she won't want anybody treading on her toes. Kate & OJ Borg gel at times but you can tell when they want to lead & when their leadership is compromised. It's all interesting stuff.

Kate DJed in the Czech Rebublic last friday. I tuned in to Drivetime to see what OJ Borg was up to regarding the show.
OJ Borg revelled in being on his own - maybe he sees Drivetime being his show. He made glib comments about Kate being away, suggesting she was a 'celebrity' DJ gigging at 'butlins'/'a wedding?' - when we & Kerrang! Radio know Kate is a serious House DJ mixing it with the best.
Kerrang! Radio is a very adult station so mickey-taking is de-regueur - & Kate has ridiculed OJ Borg many times.

Kate has quite a few gigs abroad this year & January, 2009, so she may need to take time off from Kerrang! Radio, as she has intimated - but I think she should also cement her position at Kerrang! Radio, also - no matter what OJ Borg thinks.

We await to see.
OJ Borg's attitude in certain ways to Kate may be a subterfuge - he did ridicule Peaches Geldof last week for her claim to be a DJ?

We await to see if OJ Borg has character.

On a sad note, Lucy left Kerrang! Radio last friday.
Don't know what her future is, whether it involves Tim Shaw or not. Kate did intimate last week that Lucy may be going to work in Australia where she spent a vacation this summer.
