DIMWIT O'LEARY

Presenter Dermot O'Bleary caused outrage with a sick jibe about X Factor contestants who open their hearts about their family tragedies.

Dermot, 35 - who is paid £1million to front the talent search - made his outburst while appearing on ITV2's game show Celebrity Juice last Tuesday.

Did the right people get through Boot Camp?

Hang on, we'll be with you in a minute, we're just reaching for the tissues for, like, the 50th time this weekend. God, what an emotional roller coaster we've all been on. It never fails to get us. Anyway, how are YOU all feeling after that? Do you think the right people have been picked for the penultimate stage of the contest? We must say, we thought Cheryl and Simon were actually going to come to blows at one point. Still, isn't it great that she really sticks up for herself – Simon may have met his match this time. Just think, among those 24 wannabes, one, or some, are going to go on and become the winner of The X Factor 2008. It's pretty cool – they'll probably even be on the cover of heat and everything! We want you to tell us everything you're feeling (unless it's weird perverted thoughts about Louis Walsh, you can keep those!). We'll be here all night, so get nattering!

It's Cheryl v Simon as she takes the girls while he mentors the boys on the X Factor

Cheryl Cole will be mentoring the girls in her first season of X Factor.

The Girls Aloud singer will be going head to head with Simon Cowell, who was handed the boys, Louis Walsh, who will mentor the groups, and last year's winner Dannii Minogue, who will work with the over 25s.
The four judges were told who they would be working with on tonight's episode of the X Factor.

Laura makes X Factor final 24

SINGING sensation Laura White has made it through to the next stage of The X Factor despite a less positive response from the judges at the “boot camp” stage.

The student, aged 20, appeared on the show on Saturday and last night to fight for her place in the ITV talent contest.

She sailed into the “boot camp” stage in the Saturday show after delighting the judges with her performance of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.
