Very entertaining show last night. The standard is so high - a world away from when I used to be rooting for 'Journey South' (principally to annoy Blags

).
Amazing performances on the 'Big Band' show, last night. Personally, I don't understand why Eoghan is there - (even though he's from Ireland) - but the judges go wild about him.
Scott left last night - he and Daniel The Widowed Pool Cleaner were in the bottom two. I've enjoyed seeing Daniel stay in, much to the judges' bewilderment, but last night it was the choice of both Louis and Cheryl to save Daniel, because in the sing-off, he sang with such passion. Yes, he did, but there is some disquiet amongst fans that Daniel is still 'getting mileage out of his wife's sudden death, to stay in the show'.
I won't judge him about that - I can see his point; if last night was going to be his final time singing live, it made sense to dedicate the song to his wife, and to choose a song about losing a loved one. But you can't escape the fact that doing so did tug on our heartstrings - in that sense, Daniel had an advantage over Scott.
All 12 finalists (sort of) got to sing (or mime, depending on who you believe) 'Hero', a single they are releasing to raise funds for the Help for Heroes forces charity, and the Poppy Day Appeal. The most notable thing about last night's performance of 'Hero' was the fact that 2 of the 12 acts didn't appear - not because they had turned into conscientious objectors - but because one of the doors on the set got stuck, and they didn't make it onto the stage!
But truly inspiring performances from Alexandra, Diana, Laura, Ruth and Rachel.
Nice work, ladies.
