But Simon Cowell has all but confirmed that he’ll be giving Diana Vickers a recording contract.

And that’s whether she wins The X Factor or not.

Take That stars Gary Barlow and Mark Owen paid Diana several compliments during a master class last week.

With Gary telling the Lancashire student: “If Simon Cowell ever doesn’t sign you, I would sign you tomorrow.”

I don't get it at all. Her diction drives me potty as does her flicky hand thing.

I think she has gone downhill a bit since her illness. She is getting far too nervous now I think which is spoiling it for her, but she has done some very good performances in the past, such as the Blondie one and another one, the name of which escapes me. I was clapping like mad at the end of those and they totally enraptured me.

She is still extremely young and has a lot to learn and needs to look after herself better, but I think with the right song choice, she could do really well. I think she is really sweet and cute. She is different from anyone who has ever been on the X Factor and it is her uniqueness which I like.

She has the unique factor like big stars such as Kate Bush and Alanis Morrisette.

I am not keen on the hand flick, but I have noticed that several singers do put their hands up when they sing. I think it is an automatic reaction to try to project your voice. She probably doesn't even realise she is doing it. When you are singing, it is always hard to know what to do with the other hand.

I think given the right song choices she could go far.

Yes I think she's gone down hill. There is a sweetness about her but like you say she is so young. I liked her a lot more to begin with but certain traits started to annoy me after a while. I think we can all have mannerisms when we sing or speak in public. I'm just surprised no one has told her about the hand thing and helped her to do something a bit less obvious.
