Alexandra Burke Takes It Old School, Looks To Aretha and Gladys Knight

X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke says she's not afraid to channel old school Soul and R&B artists like Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight or even Al Green on her forthcoming debut.

"It's gonna be some old school meets new school, where it was real music like Aretha, Gladys Knight, Al Green, with a pop twist."

Burke won the recently completed season of the UK's X-Factor, similar to the U.S. ratings blockbuster American Idol.

Following Leona Lewis, a previous winner, Burke says she "absolutely adores" Beyonce.

Burke performed with Beyonce during the season finale of the show.

While a release has not been set for Burke's project, it is rumored hit stores late next year.

AN ICONIC landmark on the Haringey skyline has got theX Factor for newly-crowned queen of pop Alexandra Burke.

The X Factor winner, who has been storming the charts with her first-single Hallelujah, has named Alexandra Palace as her favourite place in London.

Alex lives in neighbouring Islington, making the Palace's Victorian architecture, panoramic views and scenic setting in 196 acres of parkland, easily accessible.

Perhaps she might be tempted to play a gig at her favourite venue in 2009 and follow in the footsteps of music greats such as Robbie Williams, Blur, The Stone Roses, and The Kinks... watch this space!
