This morning I spent a few hours digging big holes in the garden to take 46cm pots with Blueberry plants in. The reason for the pots is that our soil is the wrong type so the pots have Ericaceous soil in them. Burying them should help slow down the rate at which they dry out in the summer. So I have three buried and two that aren't do to lack of space.
I've also got some special Miracle Grow for this type of soil on it's way.
All going well in the summer we could have up to 4 pound of large Blueberries per plant.

The rest of the day has been monitoring ,on and off, the major fire 4 - 5 miles away to the East. I can hear most of the hand-held radios on the fire ground.

Oh and yesterday I saved £25 when I bought a tool chest complete with tools from the Halfords sale. Another one in Argos that looks to have the same tools is £69 in their sale ! The Halfords one was £44.

Ooh I like the sound of the blueberries - they are good for you.

Today I am shattered and have only just finished clearing up after having 22 people round for a party yesterday. The place looked like a bomb had hit it this morning when I got up. :-?

Today on reading ^ I could not believe it is only less than a week ago that I was where my family live!! It feels like weeks have passed since Christmas/New Year etc.

Last night (Friday) I bought a pair of faster CPU for my work station. It should now have 2 x 3.2GHZ Xeon in place of the 2 x 2.8GHz.
They were used ones from the same source on eBay but at £59 it should be a cheap upgrade.
If I should ever need more speed I have to get a different model workstation.
Next in line would be I think a Precision 470 which runs 2 Duel Core Xeon upto 3.6GHz with a 800MHZ bus opposed to 533MHz of the Precision 450 and can take I think 16GB RAM compared to 4GB.

For the ultimate ,where money is not object ,there are some that run 4x Quad core ( 16 Cores !) Xeons at very high bus speeds and can take something like 64GB Memory. And no I can't think of why I'd every need a server with this performance.

But a question for anybody in the know. As normally XP Pro only supports up to 2 CPU is there a version that supports 4 ? I know the correct version will support a pair of Quad Cores (8 Cores) but I posed this question yesterday to someone else who wasn't sure about a non-server O/S that supported 4 CPU. He is normally a Linux user and I have seen a MAC configured for video rendering with 4 CPU but not a PC. Any ideas of a non-server O/S that supports more than 2 CPU ?

Tonight I installed the faster Processors in my Dell Workstation .
I have to say it couldn't have been easier or quicker. In fact it took longer to disconnect and reconnect the cables on the PC than it did to do the upgrade.

All working correctly and flying now with 2x 3.2GHz Xeon CPU.

It's been sitting in here in the warm with nothing being done for a month or two.

I'll have to do some more prep work as it's nearly ready for painting but it does get a bit messy working in the house in a confined space.

I also have plans and materials for a scaled Davros and a scaled Tardis.

I did get as far as cutting the sides for the Davros skirt (chair) from 2mm MDF but need to get some 6mm ply for the base.
The MDF will be used for the Tardis along again with the 2mm MDF plus some beading for the window frames and the boxed corners.

I have some very detailed plans that I downloaded that'll come in handy.

The idea is to build to the same scale as the 18 inch assault Dalek that you can buy in the shops. The RC Davros is the wrong scale to the Dalek hence building one.

One problem with the Radio Controlled shop toys is that they only use two frequencies so the controller for Davros also controls the RC K9. The Dalek is in a different frequency band. I haven't tried the 27MHz controllers when our big K9 is powered up yet to see if they interfere.

Speaking of mice... I have been thinking about our (now dead) mice Mary and Judy today because our wee budgie died unexpectedly on Saturday, quite tragic really!
