Product Description
In summer 2000 tens of millions of us were glued to our televisions every night for nine weeks as a new media phenomenon was born - reality TV. Before "The X Factor", "Strictly Come Dancing" and "I'm A Celebrity", "Get Me Out Of Here!", "Big Brother" was the hot, and often only, topic of conversation in offices, shops, schools and almost everywhere else each morning, its progress reported in every form of media on a daily basis. And by the end of the series we felt we knew the housemates intimately. Subsequent series might have been more notorious, but it is the first winner everyone remembers. Watched by over 10 million viewers, Craig Phillips, the endearing Liverpudlian 'chippie with a heart of gold', came out triumphant with 3.7 million votes and promptly gave his entire GBP70,000 winnings to a Downs syndrome friend, Joanne Harris. Craig had already established his own successful construction business before the show, and when he finally came down to earth he used his building skills together with his newly acquired media savvy to forge a successful career spanning both worlds, going on to present and produce shows for BBC, ITV and Discovery Channel, as well as making hundreds of guest appearances on some of the most popular shows on TV. He went on to set up a skills centre to train young people, and raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for numerous charities. He remains to this day a hugely popular figure on TV who rubs shoulders with the famous and influential, from prime ministers to soap stars, and gives inspirational talks to schools and universities. Not bad for a dyslexic working class boy from a deprived area of Liverpool. Craig's is the ultimate story of triumph over adversity. But it could have been so different...

About the Author
Craig was born in Liverpool in 1971, the younger of two children, and his family moved to Shropshire in the late 1980s. At eighteen, Craig secured a bricklaying apprenticeship whilst employed with Wrekin Council-s construction department. Determined to ensure he excelled in his chosen profession, he attended further night school classes in advanced brickwork and civil engineering. Craig went on to set up his own building company which was turning over more than GBP1 million a year before his appearance on Big Brother. In 2005, Craig set up the largest independent construction training college in the North West.

This is what his P.A says about the book:-

Quote:
Having worked very hard with him and his assistant writer (who worked with David Beckham and Spice Girls on autobiographies) I can confidently advise you that this will give a real insight into Craig’s fascinating life. With regards to Big Brother for the first time he will reveal his thoughts, feelings and experiences of Big Brother in depth - including never before published things on his application experience, housemate experience, winning experience, looking from the other side in the camera run recently, Joanne Harris, other housemates, the show then and now etc.

Craig will be appearing very soon on the new series of Daily Cooks Challenge for ITV1 and in April on Irelands RTE1 series Written Off (doing a DIY makeover challenge with people with learning disabilities).

Craig can also be seen on a new 40 episode series of 60 Minute Makeover will shortly be seen on ITV1 and is about to commence filming on a new 140 show series of 60 Minute Makeover in April.

They both send us all their best wishes and Craig looks forward to meeting fans in stores this summer.
