How sad. :-( My thoughts are with you all at this very sad time.

So very sorry. Thank you for letting us know, Larry.

Pain and suffering is ended for your cousin now, but all her family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

My mother rang her mother this morning and her husband answered the phone so she knew something wasn't right and then she was told the news.
Her father hasn't phoned yet to tell us and probably doesn't know that we know. But there a long story about the relationships and the communications between the different parties that I won't go into. Although she didn't get on with her father he will take it badly as he didn't really acknowledge the seriousness of the condition for a long time and then was very upset when he finally accepted what was going to happen. But we think his health and what has just happened could have further out-comings but time will tell.

But as you rightly said her suffering is over and she did go peacefully rather than how so many do. She lasted a week longer than the last prediction she was given. We learnt that the Royal Marsden told her in the Autumn last year that she shouldn't have been alive when she first went to see them so things were even then far more advanced than she was letting on to anybody.

From this end we'll arrange a collection and donate it to Cancer Research UK.

Today I went for the first long bike ride of the year.
Distance was just under 14 miles.
I know now that I need to lubricate a few bits on the bike as it kept sticking in the middle gear set which makes it very hard work going up hills. And it made the chain jump off once.
Need to do a few more like this as it's only about 3 weeks before the Waendel weekend (8th - 10th May). The long skating sessions seem to be helping build up my legs as I noticed a big difference since the last ride.

The course is 16 miles plus a total of 10 miles traveling to and from the event.

Today ends the training. Just over 120 miles covered and unlike previous years I've been out in conditions I would have not done.
But along with the 2 hours skating sessions I seem fitter and certainly have more power in my legs than before.

Conditions for Saturday look to be Sunny Intervals 15 C 15 MPH wind gusting to 28 MPH which after the last few days sounds quite good.

As per last year I'm looking to be on the road by 6.30am so I can enter the course by 7am when it opens.

My radio goes on charge shortly along with a spare battery so I have RAYNET comms whilst there. The headset sits nicely under the helmet straps.
I did get a really good one with a boom mic with remote PTT that I could have attached to the handlebars but it's far too sensitive and even at minimum volume it's too loud. Shame as it would be ideal. I works ok with my Kenwood Radio but not the FDC ones from Hongkong. But the FDC as a lot smaller and are my preferred radio.

Latest forecast gives 7 -13C wind 9 - 13 MPH gusting 23-29MPH direction SW so I think for about half the course it'll into the wind and most of the rest will have it behind me including the return home.

And they think it'll be sunny so maybe it won't feel quite so cold. I was wondering about putting the liner back in my body warmer but you do generate heat while your moving and I'm sure at least one day this week I've cycled in in similar low temperatures.
