BB hasn't "gone wrong", it's just got a bit stale.

Last year's series was fantastic, but I have serious concerns that they won't be able to replicate that success this year.

Having said that, it was only a success in terms of the fans' perception of it - most people seemed to have enjoyed it enormously and thought the HMs, the house and the tasks were superb. In terms of viewing figures, though, it was a bit of a flop, and the Celeb version which followed lost plenty of viewers after the launch show - me included, and I sat through the yawn-fests that were BB4 and BB8!

BB is not the cash cow it once was, and at the point that it becomes loss-making for the channel is the time it's going to go. And we're sort of seeing the beginning of that now, with the loss of the live feed. An "All Stars" version next year is probably a good idea then C4 really should put it out to graze on a digital channel.

Text voting for evictions on fridays has collapsed over the years, along with viewing figures - but Big Brother's ratings still represent the highest average figures for Channel 4. The ratings for the final of BB9 were abysmal, though.

Channel 4 must always consider economics - ie their advertising revenue.

It is almost conceded that BB10 will be the last 'normal' Big Brother & the last year, 2010/BB11, will be some kind of BB 'all-stars' where a few of the ex-housemates who made an 'ironic' impact over the years & those desperate to maintain their careers as z-list celebrities(ie those who don't actually have one) will be desperate to take part.

Channel 5, Living TV & Sky may well consider taking up the BB franchise - but not even the z-list celebrity obsessed Daily Star Group could be capable of drumming up much interest.

BB as we know it is dead in the water, since the live feed was stopped it might as well be a soap we are watching.
It was th live feed that made the show worth watching but since that is gone I never get the buzz for the show anymore. :8o:

Totally agree, Madeline.

The live feed told us so much more... obsessed & jealous Jade Goody encouraging Adele to dislike Kate Lawler for one thing...

I love The Apprentice - the edited programme is fascinating & always entertaining for the hour - but it has become pantomime.
And it has been picked up & ruined by the z-list obsessed press/media in recent years :-? .

And as good as The Apprentice is, we don't really see anything of the prospective 'business tycoons!' in their very plush dwelling!
Plus the fact that it is filmed months ago, meaning the identity of who is fired is prone to spoilers/more than suggestions etc., in the press :-? .

Thank god Sr'alan makes the final decision just before the final day of 'You're Fired'.
