TASK: The Tudors
Ch4

Roles and Rules

For this week's Shopping Task the housemates have to be the Tudors. Siavash has the role of Henry VIII and he will be asked a series of "What Did Henry Do?" questions, each will be a multiple choice question relating to decisions and actions Henry made during his reign. Siavash must run to the answer he believes to be correct and he must get a certain percentage right to pass this part of the Task. And, chances are, Siavash knows very little about The Tudors.

The village idiot (unwittingly selected to be Marcus) will be in the stocks and will get pelted with sponges soaked in a fish gut mixture every time Henry gets an answer wrong.

Two courtiers, Kris and Charlie, will learn a traditional Tudor dance, the Volta, which they will perform as entertainment at the feast. During the dance, the Village Idiot must dance like a nymph.

The six wives: Dogface , Karly, Angel, Freddie, Sree and Rodrigo, must learn a Tudor madrigal - a song in parts. The madrigal, Now is the Month of Maying, by Thomas Morley, will be performed at the feast, while the village idiot will mime playing a lute during the performance of the madrigal.

The two cooks, Noirin and Lisa, must prepare and make all the food for the feast on Day Two of the shopping Task, using Tudor recipes. The Task Room will be converted to a Kitchen, which only the cooks and village idiot are permitted to enter, water used for cooking and cleaning during the Task will come from a large fresh water vat and must be boiled before use.

And besides his other tasks, Marcus the village idiot will learn the traditional song Greensleeves on the recorder and will play it at the feast. Tis most splendid! What say you?

Plucking Hell

It's a good job Lisa and Noirin aren't chicken. As cooks they have to get to grips with a tudor menu that would make Heston Blumenthal turn in his gravy.

For Henry VIII's 518th birthday celebration feast tomorrow, the pair must make:

savoury tongue birthday pie, Smothered Rabbit, hog gut sausages, meat apples, pork and cider stew, boiled carp, roast belly and leg of hog and the highly appetizing head of hog. (Sree or Marcus?)

Let No Man Put Asunder

It's like the court of Henry VIII in there. Doublets, britches, petticoats and stockings wherever you turn. Lisa's gutting a chicken with her bare hands. Karly (one of King Siavash's wives) is sitting on a throne. Halfwit is practising his madrigals. And out in the Garden courtiers Charlie and Kris are going through their dance steps - Kris in the male role, Charlie as the lady.

Ha ha ha
1402: Kris showed Rodrigo how the stocks work (silly boy happily put his head and hands in place) - click, he was trapped. Charlie & Kris then tickled the poor lad, before Kris flipped up the back of Rodrigo's dress (you had to be there...) and Charlie went for the final indignity - but Rod realised and told them to stop.

TASK: THE TUDORS

THE TUDORS
Earlier today, Big Brother called the most blue-blooded housemate to the Diary Room. Siavash came, and therefore automatically took on the role of Henry VIII in this week's shopping task.
Siavash allocated the following roles to the other Housemates:
6 wives
Karly
Dogface
Angel
Sree
Rodrigo
Halfwit
2 Courtiers
Kris
Charlie
2 Cooks
Noirin
Lisa
Village Idiot
Marcus
Housemates are forbidden from using their Kitchen and instead must use the Tudor Kitchen in the Task Room. Only the two cooks, the village idiot and Henry VIII are permitted to enter the Tudor Kitchen.
The two cooks must prepare a banquet for Henry's 518th birthday celebration feast tomorrow.
The menu is as follows:

Savoury Tongue Birthday Pie
Hog Gut Sausages
Meat Apples
Pork & Cider Stew
Boiled Carp
Roast Belly & Leg of Hog
Head of Hog
Housemates have also been provided with food for general consumption. This includes seasonal fruit and vegetables (spinach, radishes, onions, peas, broad beans, seasonal berries), 5 chickens, milk, eggs, a whole carp and the provisions to make their own bread, along with a number of herbs and edible marigold plants.
The 6 wives are currently rehearsing their madrigal (Now Is the Month of Maying by Thomas Morley) and the courtiers are rehearsing for their dance, the Volta, which they will perform at the banquet tomorrow.
