Tuffers to take spin on Strictly

CRICKET legend Phil Tufnell has signed up to appear in Strictly Come Dancing.

The former spin- bowler, 43, is already in training for the BBC1 ballroom hit after agreeing a fee of around £30,000.

A show source said last night: "Phil is as fit as a fiddle so he's a perfect signing.

Strictly Come Dancing judge asks for support

Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli has called on fans of the show to support it as it begins its seventh series.

There has been criticism of the hit celebrity dance contest after it emerged 66-year-old Arlene Phillips has been axed as a judge to be replaced by the younger Alesha Dixon.

Tonioli has said Strictly was one of the best shows on television, and the public should get behind it.

This year's line-up includes former tennis star Martina Hingis, retired boxer Joe Calzaghe, Oxo mum Lynda Bellingham, Ronnie Wood's estranged wife Jo and former EastEnders actress Natalie Cassidy.

Calzaghe has already been tipped by bookies as an early favourite to win.
