Just would have loved have to seen Kate on the list for Gatecrasher & Creamfields this year - & a few massive gigs in Ibiza - like last year.

She deserves that for her hard work & right approach.

And not least for the fact that she is regarded throughout forums as one of the best & charismatic DJs out there - but gets very little credit because of Big Brother.

Kate was armed with a very complementary M8 magazine front cover & interview in January, but won't appear in Ibiza this year?? And yet she got an invite to top club Amnesia last year when she was on holiday.

As Kate knows - good broadcasting jobs can be transient - and she has a brilliant 5-day-a week job at Kerrang! Radio.

But I think a true mistake has been made here.
Can understand Kate not going out to Ibiza in June because that's where Jonathan Woodgate stays in his villa, but after that, why the hell was Kate not djing in top clubs in Ibiza this summer?? That's where you cement your reputation as a top DJ.

Kate returned to Kerrang! Radio last week after her holiday in Croatia - everybody needs a true break.
Before Kate went to Croatia, Kate was djing in Dubai, and poor Oj Borg was still repeating his same old lame gag about Kate being there to dj at weddings, under 9 parties, etc.

It's about time Kate said she is proud to be a respected DJ & forget about the derogatory comments she gets by virtue of the fact that she emerged from BB.

Blimey, there are many DJs lauded by the dance magazines who want z-list promotion because they are addicted to fame.
At least Kate tried to become a respected DJ - & refused much money she could have made as a 'celebrity' DJ.

Don't really follow dance music, TBH. Yet there's a lot of talk about Ibiza not being what it was. Used to be the be-all and end-all, but apparently not so much any more.

I'm sure there are Ibiza gigs Kate would have wanted but if you can't get them (yet)then I don't think you go back down a level just to play the isle-she's opened and closed at good venues there in the last few years.She's never slogged or residenced at Ibiza even when no Kerrang-time made that possible.There's a recession all round and Kate's live and production careers can't really be faulted in my opinion.

True, Kate's never been desperate to be an Ibiza DJ, only, she has travelled the world at her own expense.

But the fact is the world's top DJs have been in Ibiza, maybe for their own ego, but Kate hasn't, though contrary to what you say, Vilt, she could have been.

Latest dates-plus on myspace Katie has posted a new track-Best Nightmare and Voo Doo was posted in June which I hadn't noticed.

Interesting that she's playing the Big Reunion in Skeggy again. She got a very bad review for that last year, one of the very few I've seen. Summat about a technical prob which the reviewer blamed on her, with some twaddle about cleb-djs thrown in.

Seems probable that, as she's been booked again, the organisers didn't feel it was her fault

Its always a good sign when you get asked back in this way.No names but one of Kate's fiercest (and well respected)critics a few years back was won over and they did a venture together a while back(it wasn't that successful though)

Yes, but isn't this the problem?
Kate, being from Big Brother and all the baggage with it, the z-list promotion(minimal in Kate's case), the fact that people think Big Brother is naff, does mean she has had to work twice as hard and be ten times as good as the lauded club DJs to get any positive critical recognition.
So what in a way, because that makes Kate even better. Her first track, 'Screw You', was basically two fingers to her critics and detractors.

The Ibiza thing is strange. Kate played Amnesia last year, a place only top DJs play, she got a front cover in M8 magazine January this year, but didn't gig at all in Ibiza this year.
There's no way Kate wouldn't have got a few decent offers for gigs this year, and that's allowing for her commitment to Kerrang! Radio.

It's always the problem for all BB and reality contestants though isn't? The only ones that get any good press are the ones that sell every bit of their lives to the voracious tabs and chav-mags.

Very frustrating, but the natue of the beast. So much print and cyber-space giving over to crap, they need people to fill it with their stories.

BTW have Katie Price or Peter Andre broken their respective "dignified silences" they were going to keep after their marriage breakdown, I just hope the press don't keep on hounding them.

That comment may be a non-sequitur, but it does sum up the type of sleb the press crave
