First girl voted off The X Factor

Student Rachel Adedeji has become the first female contestant to be voted off ITV1 talent show The X Factor.

The 17-year-old was in the sing-off against Lloyd Daniels after receiving the smallest number of votes.

But after the judges could not decide whom to save, it was decided on the public vote.

Mentor Dannii Minogue said she did not know where it went wrong. It was the third time Adedeji had been in the bottom two.

Minogue said all the guest artists who mentored the acts had adored Adedeji.

X Factor: Who do you think you're kidding Cowell? Clearly, Simon DOES love Jedward and HAS setup Danyl as a fall-guy
By ALISON BOSHOFF

A new show it ain't - this is series six - but X Factor is the biggest television hit of the year.
A record 15 million people tuned in last Saturday to hear the latest instalments of the contestants' brash and extraordinary stories.
So how has it been done? We look at the manipulations the producers have used to capture the public's imagination...

Lucie loses to twins in X Factor showdown

LUCIE Jones was sensationally booted off X Factor tonight after finishing in the bottom two with Jedward.

Lucie sang One Moment In Time while twins John and Edward performed Robbie William's Rock DJ in the sing-off.

But the judges' decision on who should stay and who should go went to deadlock - and Welsh warbler Lucie lost out by polling the fewest public votes.

As she was booted off the programme, she leapt to the twins' defence, saying: "I'm gutted but the boys deserve to be here, they work harder than anyone."
