Double the dosh for Big Brother winner

HARARE - Reality TV show Big Brother Africa 4, due to start on September 6, now offers prize money of US$200,000, double the previous pot.

Last year Munyaradzi Chidzonga, the 22-year-old representative from Zimbabwe, finished in third place. Angolan Ricco scooped the US$100,000 prize. Now renamed Big Brother Africa: The Revolution, the reality television show will include contestants from Ethiopia and Mozambique to bring the number of housemates to 14.

Housemates will no longer vote for those they want to leave the house, but for those they want to stay. The show has, in the past, courted serious controversy when housemates made love in the house in full view of the cameras. The housemates will be expected to stay in the same house for 90 days, during which time the cameras will be rolling 24/7.

Big Brother rules: “No nudity”

14-06-2009
Africa is about to get its latest edition of Big Brother, from Multichoice Africa, and with a record-breaking $200,000 prize for the winner.
But there's to be no nudity, says the show's producers. Last year's episodes saw frequent displays - intentional as well as accidental - of bare bodies, and this upset many African governments resulting in threats to ban the show in some countries.
There's another big difference: This year viewers will be voting for house guests they want to see staying - not to vote someone out. Contestants from 14 African countries, including Ghana, Angola, Botswana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Also, housemates from Mozambique and Ethiopia are expected to be part of this year's edition.

Big Brother Africa 4: Goodbye Phil

PHIL Okure, Uganda’s Big Brother housemate, bade farewell to the house on Sunday and at the same time also said tata to the US$200 000 that the remaining housemates stand to win when it’s all over.

Was it his alcohol-related outburst with Kaone that left him at the mercy of the viewers, or was it his articulate, innovative, shy, friendly naughty persona that made the viewers decide enough of Phil? Well, the 25-year-old marketing consultant sheds light on the lowdown of his stay in the house.

Could Itai be in with a chance?

HARARE – Zimbabwean housemate Itai Makumbe is now in with a strong chance of bringing home US$200,000 in the reality TV show, Big Brother Africa 4, which ends on December 6.

The three housemates up for eviction from Big Brother house this week are Nkenna, Elizabeth and Emma, and Makumbe remains safe as the reality TV show enters the home stretch.

Emma has been disliked by her fellow contestants since entering the house, and public opinion of her outside the compound is also highly unfavourable. Her romance with Kenya’s Jeremy, who was evicted last weekend, largely kept Emma from eviction.

In a fit of rage, Emma referred to Makumbe as “Mr Scrubber” because of his insistence on cooking and cleaning up after the other housemates
