Mikey Hughes vows to “clean-up” politics as he stands in Glasgow North East By-election--------------------------------
MIKEY Hughes, the former Big Brother star, has literally brought some colour to the Glasgow North East by-election.
The blind would-be MP arrived for a press call by removal van, wearing a leapord print jacket, with a model by his side posing as a cleaner with a feather duster.
Mr Hughes, 35, from Glasgow, who is standing as an independent candidate wanted to get across the message that politics needs to clean up its act after the MPs’ expenses scandal.
His message on the identically coloured rosettes was simple -
"Mikey for MP".Despite his colourful introduction to the fray, Mr Hughes conceded his chances of winning the October 20 poll were slim in what he described as “diehard Labour” terrority.
He said: "There's certainly been a lot of bad feeling in the constituency about it. But it's a big, big challenge.
"I'm a straight talker. I spoke my mind last year on Big Brother and I will do so again for the people of Springburn."
